Narrabri High School Visit
On Tuesday, 29th July, our Year 6 class was visited by five students from Narrabri High School, accompanied by community liaison Mr David Pierce and the 2026 Year 7 Advisor, Ms Eliza Mallitt.
It was a pleasure to welcome back former St Francis Xavier’s students Josie Harvey, Maxine O’Connor, Lily Bogdanoff, Estelle Eather and Alistair Dowdell. They shared valuable insights into high school life, including the subjects they’re studying, highlights from their Year 7 camp, and the animals cared for at the school's Agriculture plot.
The visit was an engaging and informal discussion focused on the Year 7 2026 Transition Program, set to take place later this year at Narrabri High School. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to ask questions and hear first-hand what to expect in their upcoming high school journey.
Spirituality Twilight Session
Last Tuesday evening, staff gathered for a reflective and uplifting session led by ACS Spirituality team members Mrs Diane Brown and Mrs Anne Finlayson. The session was well attended by staff and built upon last term’s focus on the Jubilee Year theme, “Pilgrims of Hope.” This term’s theme, “A Journey of Hope,” invited staff to reflect more deeply on their personal and collective faith journeys. The session centred on the Gospel story of The Road to Emmaus from Luke, encouraging reflection on what it truly means to be on a pilgrimage.
A huge thank you to Mrs Brown and Mrs Finlayson for visiting our school and delivering such a meaningful and enriching session.
Chess Tournament
Last Friday, the St Francis Xavier's Chess Team travelled to Gunnedah for the Western Region Chess Competition.
Sayul Kankanam Arachchige, Lachlan Dunn, Cody Burford, and Mya Keeler represented our school proudly, joining over 90 students from across the district for a day of strategic battles.
Over eight intense rounds across five hours, the team showed great focus and determination. Lachlan, Cody and Mya all experienced the highs and lows of chess, including some exciting wins and tough matches that ended in stalemates. Sayul finished the day undefeated!!
The team placed 13th out of 23 schools, with only two more wins needed to leap into the top 5!! The day was a resounding success for our first ever competition.
A big thank you to the parents and grandparents who helped with transport and support. We look forward to further ventures into this remarkable world of intellectual battle.
Thank you Mr Falkiner for helping the students prepare for the tournament and accompanying them on the day.
Happy Principals' Day
Last Friday Australia celebrated Principal’s Day!!
A chance to say thank you for the incredible leadership Mrs O'Connor brings to our school each and every day.
