Physical Education Teachers: Stratos Tzanoudakis & Kerrie Ahrens

Physical Education and Sport - Term 3 2025

PREPS – Will be involved in simple gymnastics activities incorporating rocking, rolling, balancing in individual and partner situations. FMS of kicking a football and soccer ball will be introduced this term with activities including a variety of different types of balls and drills. We conclude the term with ball games incorporating the skills we have worked on so far this year.

 

GRADES 1/2 – Will be involved in gymnastic activities incorporating rolling, balancing, static and rhythmic movement in individual, partner and group situations. FMS of the soccer dribble, kick and the football punt with the focus on correct technique, accuracy and distance using a variety of balls in drills and games.

 

GRADES 3/4 – Are focusing on the skills of Track and Field events including, Shot put, Discus, Long jump, Triple jump, High jump, Hurdles and Sprints. Grade 4 children are attending the School Athletics Carnival and their results in the above events will be included in the selection of the school Athletics Team. In the second half of the term, we will be focusing on soccer skills such as passing, dribbling, and controlling a soccer ball and footy skills such as kicking, marking and handballing.

 

GRADES 5/6 – Are focusing on the skills of Track and Field events including, Shot put, Discus, Long jump, Triple jump, High jump, Hurdles and Sprints. All senior students are attending the School Athletics Carnival and their results in the above events will be included in the selection of the school Athletics Team. In the second half of the term, we will be focusing on soccer skills such as passing, dribbling, and controlling a soccer ball and footy skills such as kicking, marking and handballing using both preferred and non-preferred feet and hands.

 

Events in Sport this term

School Athletics Carnival 2025

Yesterday students from grade 4 to 6 participated in the School Athletics Carnival at Aberfeldie Park. Each child competed in up to four events selected from the following:

 

Running – 80m Hurdles, 100m sprint

Jumping – Long Jump, Triple, High Jump

Throwing – Discus, Shot Put

 

The level of performance and commitment by the students was outstanding with lots of smiles and enthusiasm throughout.

A big thank you to all of the parents who took the time to attend and support our students and an appreciation to those who assisted by accompanying classes on the bus to and from the event.

An enormous appreciation to all of the school staff who attended and assisted in the running of the Carnival.

Students and their families who have qualified to represent our school at the Footscray District Carnival to be held on Thursday 21st August at the same venue will be notified via Compass early next week.
