Around the Classrooms

Grade 1/2K
This week in Religion, the students in 1/2K have been learning about the life of St Mary MacKillop and the many wonderful ways she showed kindness, courage, faith, and compassion to others. We explored how she dedicated her life to helping people in need and making education accessible for all children.
As part of our learning, we challenged ourselves to step into St Mary MacKillop's shoes and think about how we can follow her example in our own lives. The students reflected on the simple yet meaningful ways they can live like St Mary MacKillop each day by showing kindness, helping others, and caring for our community.
Here are some of their thoughtful reflections:
- Archer: "I can show people respect and when people drop something, I can help to pick it up for them."
- Safiyah: "I can be kind to others."
- Dominik: "If you see litter, you should pick it up, check on people if they're hurt, and try to make people happy."
- Leo R: "I can help people in class when they don't understand and make sure that I'm always showing respect, responsibility, and resilience to others."
- Evie:"I can help people clean up because we want the classroom space to be tidy for everyone."
We are incredibly proud of the empathy, kindness, and thoughtful reflections our students shared. It has been wonderful to see them making meaningful connections between the values of St Mary MacKillop and the positive choices they can make each day. We look forward to continuing to grow as a class by following her example of love, service, and compassion.
