Leadership Report
Term 3, Week 3
Dear Families,
It’s been a great start to the term with lots of exciting events and learning to come. This week we commenced our Parent Teacher Conferences, and this is a wonderful opportunity to discuss the student achievement reports that came home at the end of Term 2 and set learning and wellbeing goals for the second half of the year.
We thank you for your flexibility and understanding as we worked around the industrial action and teacher circumstances that resulted in a few different conference schedules.
Our admin extraordinaire, Kerri has accepted a new role and finishes up at Williamstown North Primary School on the 11th August. We’re sad to see her leave and wish her all the best for her future endeavours.
In sad news, an ex-principal of Williamstown North Primary School passed away last week. His name was Alan Hewett, and he was Principal of Williamstown North Primary School from 1981 to 1992. I’ve attached a picture of him visiting our school, alongside his granddaughter and valued staff member, Kylie Missen. Our thoughts and wishes are with Kylie and her family during this time.
We’re very excited to celebrate our incredible prep students, this week, who have achieved a very bright milestone of being at school for 100 days! We wish them all the best and look forward to seeing our 100-Year-Old students at school on Thursday.
In week 7, we also celebrate Book and Numeracy week, and we’re looking forward to both Reading and Writing together is Magic and the Book Week Parade on the Wednesday and Friday, respectively. We celebrate a Maths Open afternoon on the Thursday, and we’re excited to share the strong learning with our community throughout these events.
Our school musical will take place on the 9th and 10th of September with more information to come regarding ticketing and rehearsal scheduling, keep a look out for Compass posts from Chelsea Adams.
A group of Year 5 and 6 students have been selected to represent Williamstown North Primary School in an interschool debating competition alongside Williamstown Primary School and St Mary's Primary School. The competition provides students with authentic opportunities to develop their public speaking, critical thinking, collaboration and persuasive communication skills while debating a range of contemporary topics. Students have been working together to research, prepare and refine their arguments ahead of the gala day.
Five, Year 6 students have also been selected to participate in the 2026 Maths Ninja Stream of the Virtual Primary STEM Program at John Monash Science School. This Department of Education enrichment program is designed for high-ability students with a particular interest in mathematics and STEM. Across six live online sessions, students will explore complex mathematical concepts beyond the Year 5/6 curriculum while developing advanced problem-solving, reasoning and creative thinking skills. We look forward to evaluating the success of this program and hope to secure additional places in both the Mathematics and STEM streams in future years.
We are excited to share the four values that will guide our school community from the beginning of 2027:

These values were selected following consultation with our students, staff and families. We sincerely thank our parent and carer community for taking the time to contribute your ideas, feedback and perspectives throughout this process. Your input helped us identify values that reflect who we are as a school and the culture we want to continue building together.
Our new values will be much more than words displayed around the school. They will help shape the way we learn, interact, solve problems and care for one another. They will also provide consistent language for recognising positive behaviour, teaching expectations and supporting students to make safe and respectful choices.
Embodying these values, we aim to build a school culture where:
everyone feels welcomed, valued and included
we show care for people, places and learning
we take responsibility for our choices and actions
we keep trying, respond positively to challenges and ask for help when needed
Throughout the remainder of 2026, staff and students will continue developing our whole-school behaviour matrix and learning resources. This work will support the formal launch of the values through our Learning to Learn program at the beginning of 2027.
We look forward to bringing Belonging, Respect, Responsibility and Persistence to life across our classrooms, playgrounds and wider school community.
