Last week in 1 Cameron, we were reflecting on why we celebrate Mother’s Day.
The conversation quickly blossomed into something truly special, as the children eagerly shared why their mums mean so much to them. They spoke about how their mums do so much for their families and how Mother’s Day is a chance to show love, give thanks, and even give Mum a little break!
Naturally, this prompted more questions: Why do you love your mum? What makes her so special?
Here are just a few of their heartwarming responses:
Their words, spoken with shining eyes and full hearts, were a reminder of how deeply children feel and express love.
A mother’s love is a guiding light—steady, nurturing, and full of grace. With each gentle word and every patient lesson, she plants seeds of wisdom that take root in a child’s heart.
As Proverbs 22:6 reminds us, “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” A mother doesn’t just raise a child—she shapes a life, creating a foundation of love, faith, and strength that endures through every season.
On Sunday afternoon, I found myself reflecting again on the beautiful thoughts shared by the children of 1 Cameron. It’s clear their families have nurtured them with love, kindness, and guidance. Later, as I sat with my own two children, I told them about the lovely things the children had said. Without missing a beat, they chimed in: “That’s like you! You’re kind and loving! But you’re also funny—and very silly, too.”
So, to all the mums out there—including the funny and silly ones—I hope your Mother’s Day was filled with love, bedtime cuddles, and hopefully a slice of cake as sweet as you!
