St Anthony of Padua
Today the Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of St Anthony of Padua, the patron of lost objects. St Anthony's life was transformed when he witnessed the funeral procession of five Franciscan martyrs. Inspired by their sacrifice, he joined the Franciscan order, hoping to follow their path. However, due to poor health, he was instead sent to Italy to preach and teach. Despite his youth, Anthony became a powerful preacher, drawing crowds of thousands and leading many to Christ or deeper faith.
ARCHDIOCESAN CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION
On the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi), everyone is invited to this special Corpus Christi Procession through the streets of Melbourne, as we publicly and joyfully bear witness to Christ—the hope who does not disappoint—in this Year of Jubilee.
Following the 11am Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral, a Eucharistic procession will commence from the Cathedral into the streets of the Melbourne CBD. Join us for this pilgrimage of prayer and song before concluding with Benediction at Federation Square!
The Archdiocese encourage parishes, schools, communities and movements to prepare for this pilgrimage and join us as we bear witness to our faith.
I hope to see you Sunday June 22!
