Message from the Principal

Mrs Bronwyn Underwood

Dear Parents and Carers,

Term 2 has hit the ground running and what a start it has been! We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the families who were able to join us for the Manilla ANZAC Day celebrations.

As always, the community spirit was evident. Our students showed up in force to honour our former and current service men and women, representing St Michael’s with exceptional pride and respect. Seeing our children participate so meaningfully in such a significant local tradition was a highlight for us all.

ANZAC Day in Manilla remains a deeply special occasion and our students truly rose to the moment, contributing splendidly to the day’s commemorations.

A huge congratulations to our talented cross country runners who have qualified for the Diocesan Cross Country in Barraba on May 22. We are so proud of your hard work and can’t wait to cheer you on from near and afar!

Events like these don’t happen by chance. A special thank you goes to Miss Martin for her stellar organisation in making our school carnival such a success. We also want to extend our gratitude to our wonderful P&F Committee for their help bagging lunches for the students and staff—it was a delicious way to wrap up a great day of racing.

Staff spent the commencement of the Term diving deep into the art of teaching writing. Our professional learning sessions focused on how we can better support students in mastering Narrative, Persuasive, and Informative texts.

A huge thank you to Miss Leah Summerell for leading these sessions. As our Leader of Pedagogy, Leah brings incredible knowledge and energy to her role and we are grateful for her dedication to ensuring our teaching and learning remains at the highest standard.

As the weather begins to cool, please note that our official Winter Uniform changeover will take place on Monday, May 11.

If you are looking to update your child’s wardrobe, we have several options available:

  • Uniform Pool: A great selection of high-quality, pre-loved items;
  • New Uniforms: An extensive range of brand new items is currently in stock.

Please ensure all items are clearly labelled with your child's name. We find many items left behind at the end of the day and having a name marked makes it much easier for us to return lost property to its rightful owner.

Enjoy a great week ahead,

Bronwyn
