Stephen's News

Loving God,

We thank you for the gift of this term.

For the challenges we have faced, the successes we have celebrated, and the mistakes from which we have learned, we give you thanks.

Thank you for the teachers and LSOs who have guided us, the classmates who have supported us, and the St Anne’s community that cares for us. We are grateful for every new insight, the excitement of learning, and the growth we have experienced both inside and outside the classroom.

As we now head into a time of rest, we ask that you bless our holidays.

Grant us the peace we need so we may be restored in body, mind, and spirit.

Keep us safe in our activities and help us to return refreshed and ready for Term 3.

Amen.

End of Term

The prayer above was shared at last Friday’s Excellence Awards Assembly. As we reach the halfway point of the school year, it is an appropriate time to be grateful for all the blessings that have come our way. While our school community has  experienced grief and sadness across Terms One and Two, it is important not to lose sight of the good things in our lives.

On behalf of the St Anne’s staff, I would like to thank all of our families for your support this semester. As the saying goes, schools work best when staff, families and students are all rowing in the same direction, even when the water can sometimes get a little murky or bumpy. As a staff, we feel blessed to be part of such a supportive parent community.

Parent Teacher Conversations take place today from 3:30-5:30 and tomorrow (Friday) from 8:30-1:30.

While our school term finishes for most students at 3:30pm today (Thursday), we do have supervision available until 1:30pm tomorrow for those families who require it.

Semester One Attendance

  • Student attendance is a key contributor to academic achievement. In the school report sent out on Friday, attendance is recorded as the total number of days absent.. While there are valid reasons for student absences, such as illness, injury, or family bereavement, regular attendance is essential for both academic progress and social connectedness. Research indicates that missing more than 10% of school days in any given year can have a measurable impact on student achievement (Gershenson, 2017; Gottfried, 2009; Zubrick, 2014).
  • If your child’s report shows they have been absent for 9 or more days out of 85ish, this is more than 10% and should be monitored so it does not become a pattern.

Art News - Year 5 Silo Trail

  • Have you visited some of the Silo Art Trails around North Western Victoria? At our Arts Showcase in September, thanks to the creativity of the Year 5 students, you’ll be able to visit Sunbury’s own Silo Art Trail. We can’t wait to see all the local landmarks represented.

Cross Country

  • Congratulations to the St Anne’s students who competed in the Northern Region Cross Country Competition at Bundoora Park last week - Rossi, Kyrie & Eva. Well done on this fantastic achievement! We are all very proud of you.

Uniform Items - Coats and Jackets

  • Over the holidays, please take time to ensure that all uniform items have names on them, in more than one place if possible. There has been a significant improvement in this across the school.

Parents and Friends Association News

  • A big thanks to those who supported the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle recently, organised capably by Patrece, Rosa and Clare. The barbeques were under constant pressure all day but the crew managed to keep up with demand.
  • We raised a fantastic total of just over $2,600 which will go towards running the Dance Curriculum program again in February next year. Dance Curriculum was such a hit at this year’s Opening School Picnic that we’ve decided to lock it in again.
