Great Southern Grammar Equestrian Team Recognised at State Awards Night

Great Southern Grammar’s equestrian riders were recognised at the EWA Interschool Championships Awards Night, held on 1 August 2026 at the State Equestrian Centre in Brigadoon.

Our GSG Championship Team of Amelia McDonald, Abbie Cameron and Willow Bennett was proudly named Reserve Champion Secondary Rural School, a fantastic achievement and a testament to the hard work, skill and commitment of our riders and horses.

We also congratulate Sadie Cameron, who was awarded third place in the Highest Placed Individuals – Participants (Years Four to Six) category.

Following their excellent performances at the State Interschool Championships in April, Amelia, Abbie and Willow were selected for the 2026 WA Interschool Nationals Team.

The girls recently attended the WA Nationals Training Camp as they continue their preparation to represent Western Australia at the 2026 Australian Interschool Championships in Victoria later this year.

A special thank you also goes to our wider 2026 GSG Interschool Equestrian Team: Amelia McDonald, Abbie Cameron, Willow Bennett, Maggie Lester, Poppy Lester and Sadie Cameron. Through their individual equestrian pursuits and their efforts to earn selection to represent our school at interschool level, these riders have demonstrated excellence, dedication and resilience while embodying the values of Great Southern Grammar through their commitment, integrity, respect and support for others.

Of course, no equestrian achievement happens without an incredible support crew. A heartfelt thank you goes to our four-legged teammates, Lady, Diamond, Luna, Romeo, Rocky, Tex and Rocco, whose patience, athleticism and partnership make these achievements possible. We are equally grateful to the parents and families whose unwavering support, encouragement and countless hours behind the scenes help our riders pursue their goals and reach their full potential. Equestrian success is truly a team effort, and we thank everyone who plays a part in making it happen.

We congratulate all of our riders on their outstanding achievements and wish Amelia, Abbie and Willow every success as they prepare to represent Western Australia on the national stage at the National Interschools event from 27 September to 1 October in Victoria.
