Notes from the Principal

Mackenzie Mason
Our school community mourns the loss of a vivacious, bubbly person who was on track to become a wonderful educator.
In the time that we hosted Miss Mason as a pre-service teacher, she had a positive and memorable impact in all areas of our school. Mackenzie approached every day with optimism, showing unconditional positive regard toward all students, staff and their families. Not only was she willing to improve her practice as a teacher, but she also sought opportunities to help our kids, including supporting the Shrek performance, cheering on Hoop Time teams, helping children learn to skip and playing with them at break times.
She loved her time with us and was looking forward to continuing in her chosen career – a career path she had wanted to be from childhood.
We send our deepest condolences to her family and friends and count ourselves among the lucky ones who got to meet and know this wonderful young person.
Goodbye Hill Family
Today marks the final day for Archie and Aria Hill at Cavendish Primary School.
Archie and Aria - you are, and will always be part of our CPS family. We wish you and your family all the best.
Opening of School Stadium
EXCITING TIMES AHEAD! We are having the opening of our school stadium on Sunday 5th October. We would absolutely love as many school families to attend as possible. A notice has been sent out on uEducateUs. A working bee will be held on Saturday 4th October at 10am to have a last minute clean up ready for the official opening. A Facebook event will be created for people to advise whether they will be attending to help with catering purposes.
Jump Rope for Heart
At close of business today, we can announce that our amazing little school raised $2000 for the Heart Foundation. This doubles the goal we had set!
Thank you to all community members who supported our kids in their fundraising efforts. We had an absolute ball this morning as we took part in our Jump Off activities.
It was great to include our visitors – Callie, Jodie and Renee joined in and so did Tilly. We had lots of cheering and support from Bec and Paula, and Mel took on the role of paparazzi.
Barbara and I managed to crawl our way through the tunnel, and Miss Gray put on a fine display of double Dutch.
The event was a wonderful way to finish off what has been a short, but busy, term.
Staffing for 2026
Miss Gray has advised that for personal reasons she will be moving on from Cavendish PS next year. Miss Gray has taught the F/1 class for 3 years. We thank her for all the time and effort she has put into our school and we wish her all the best for her future, she will be sadly missed.
We will be advertising today for two teaching positions next year. The positions will be advertised for 28 days. One will be for a Leading Teacher and the other a classroom teacher. If anyone has friends or family that may be interested in working at our fantastic little school please let them know to keep an eye out on Recruitment Online, or to contact me so they can discuss the positions.
Term 4 will be a long term for our students, with it being 11 weeks! Hope everyone has a great break and we will see you back on Monday 6th October.
Warmest regards,
Kate Steele
