Thank You for Supporting the Indigenous Literacy Foundation

A huge thank you to our Ocean Grove Primary School families for your generous support of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF). Together, our school community raised $202.50 during Book Week, which will help support literacy and a love of reading in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Australia.

The Indigenous Literacy Foundation works alongside communities to provide new, culturally relevant books and literacy resources, support early literacy through its Book Buzz program, and help communities create and publish stories in their own languages. Importantly, the Foundation takes a community-led approach, recognising the importance of culture, language and local knowledge.

At OGPS, we value the powerful role that books and literacy play in helping children connect, learn, imagine and participate fully in their education and community. We believe that all children should have opportunities to experience the joy of books and develop a lifelong love of reading.

By supporting the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, our school community is helping to create greater access to books and literacy experiences while supporting the continuation and celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages and stories.
