Grade 1 & 2

Term 3 - Week 10

The last two weeks have been very exciting and busy, but we are certainly ready for a well-earned rest.

Last week the students wrote some procedures and followed the instructions on ‘How to Make a Vegemite Sandwich’, ‘How to Draw a Monster’ and ‘How to Make a Monster Sandwich’. Last Friday the students then wrote ‘How to Decorate a cupcake’. The children enjoyed decorating their cupcake, and then eating them.

During our Inquiry Unit the students have been learning about and discovering the various types of farms, animals and how we get the food we eat. On Monday the children then discovered how to make butter and flour. Using a jar and cream, they shook the cream in the jar until it turned into butter. Using a mortar and pestle the students also made flour from the wheat by crushing it up. What a great learning experience it was!

Also, on Monday the Students enjoyed the ‘Indonesian Dance Workshop’. Then, on Wednesday, the Junior Learning community had a shared lunch, focusing on the various types of food we eat and wondering, where does it come from plant, animal, dairy or poultry?

Wishing you all a wonderful and safe holiday. We look forward to our new learnings and discoveries in Term 4.
