School Council
Dear ENPS Community,
We hope this message finds you well. Here’s a round-up of key updates and exciting news from our recent School Council meeting held on Monday 19th August.
House Team Shirts - Get Yours Now!
We’re thrilled to announce that the official ENPS house team shirts are now on sale at PSW on Keilor Road and online. Whether you’re representing Biik, Baan, Wiin, or Gurrin, now’s the time to gear up. The shirts are available in both kids and adult sizes, but remember, they can only be worn from Friday, 13th September, when we’ll be holding our official ENPS launch ceremony. We can’t wait to see everyone proudly sporting their team colours. For details about the special assembly and smoking ceremony, please see the page in this newsletter.
A Big Thank You for a Successful VIP Morning
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the fathers, father figures, carers, parents, and loved ones who attended our VIP Morning last Friday. Despite the windy weather, the turnout was fantastic, and it was wonderful to see our community come together. Events like this truly highlight the spirit of ENPS, and we appreciate everyone who took part.
McCulloch Street School Crossing – It’s Happening!
Exciting news: Moonee Valley City Council (MVCC) has approved our request for the updated crossing works on McCulloch Street. The work will commence in just a few weeks. A special shout-out to our Year Three students, who wrote fantastic letters to MVCC and provided crucial photographic evidence. A big thank you also to Mahmoud Amirgholi, our parent School Council member, who took on the challenge of communicating with MVCC on behalf of ENPS. This is a fantastic outcome for our school community.
Gillies Street Entrance – Updates Coming Soon
We’re currently in discussions about the Gillies Street gate entrance. We’ve submitted an official letter of request for a grant to repair the asphalt, and we’re also exploring the possibility of a wider gate option. This entrance is popular among our bike riders and scooter users, so we’re committed to finding the best solution. Stay tuned for more updates on this important project.
Digging Pit – A Work in Progress
You may have seen in the previous newsletter that we’re discussing the future of the digging pit. Council members have shared inspirational ideas for its design, including the shape, size, playful resources, and potential new locations. While the current spot (next to the McCulloch Street oval gate/TeamKids gate) is under consideration, it may not be the final site. This is an ongoing project, and we’ll keep you informed as it progresses.
Share Your Fundraising and Event Ideas
Do you have an idea for a community or fundraising event? We’d love to hear it! Every idea is welcome, so don’t hesitate to share your thoughts with us. You can email your suggestions to essendon.north.ps@education.vic.gov.au, and the Community Engagement Sub-committee will explore the possibilities. Let’s continue to stay connected and bring our community together with your creative ideas.
Next School Council Meeting
Our next School Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, 16th September 2024, at 6:30pm. We’re here to represent our community and are always open to your questions or concerns. We look forward to continuing our work on behalf of all ENPS families and keeping everyone updated on our progress.
Thank you for your continued support.
Warm regards,
ENPS School Council
