Miss Mel's Message

Principal - St Brigid's Primary School

Term 3, Week 7

Heavenly Father,

We come before You with grateful hearts, thanking You for the gift of our school community. We ask for Your continued guidance and blessings on each student, teacher, staff member, and family connected to our school.

May our community be a place of safety, learning, and love, where every individual feels valued and respected. Help us to support one another in our endeavors, encourage growth, and foster an environment where kindness and compassion thrive.

Grant us the wisdom to make decisions that benefit the whole community, and the courage to face challenges with faith and hope. Strengthen the bonds of friendship among us, and let Your love be the foundation of all that we do.

As we journey together in education and faith, may we always seek to glorify You in our actions and words. We pray that our school continues to be a beacon of light, nurturing the minds and hearts of all who are part of this community.

In Jesus' name, we pray.

Amen.

As previously shared, during the National Week of Action, our entire school came together to form a heart on the Gardiner football oval, a powerful symbol of the belonging we cherish at St. Brigid's. This image captures our commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive community, where every student and staff member is valued. At St. Brigid's, we embody the spirit of belonging in all that we do, and we feel truly blessed to be part of such a loving and supportive school family.

Parents and Friends Night

A Wonderful Celebration of Connection and Community

We are thrilled to share the success of our recent Parents and Friends Night, an event that truly highlighted the importance of connection, community, and the joy of sharing experiences together. The evening was filled with laughter, dancing, and a sense of togetherness that made it a memorable occasion for everyone involved.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to our Parents and Friends Committee for their incredible efforts in organizing this event. Your dedication and hard work ensured that every detail was perfect, creating an atmosphere where friendships could flourish, and fun was had by all. We also extend our gratitude to everyone who attended, those who generously donated, and those who purchased items. Your support is what makes nights like these so special.

This event was not just about having a good time—it was about reinforcing the strong bonds within our school community. It was a night of shared joy, where we came together to celebrate what makes our community unique. Thank you once again to everyone who contributed to the success of the night. We look forward to many more wonderful moments together!

NRO Blessing Ceremony

I recently had the privilege of attending the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Northern Region building blessing, a special event where I was joined by fellow principals from the northern region and other esteemed guests. The ceremony, led by Father Mark, was a beautiful occasion that underscored our shared commitment to Catholic education. We were inspired by the heartfelt speeches delivered by Sarah Parry, our Northern Regional Manager, and Dr. Edward Simons, our MACS Executive Director, who both spoke eloquently about the significance of this milestone and the future of our schools. It was a moment of reflection and celebration, highlighting the strength and unity of our community.

Book Week

Book Week was a celebration of stories and imagination, filled with exciting activities and culminating in the much-anticipated Book Week Parade. Students brought their favourite characters to life through their creative costumes, often teaming up with other characters from the same book. The sight of Gru and his minions wandering around the hall was a highlight! Throughout the week, students explored new picture storybooks and engaged in various tasks inspired by the stories they read—crafting colourful chalk drawings connecting to The Concrete Garden, designing their own night animals like those in Every Night at Midnight, and composing "tweets" about their strengths, just as Roy did in That Bird Has Arms. It was a great opportunity to develop a love of books and come together as a community.

It reminds us that encouraging young people to develop a love of reading and storytelling helps enhance cognitive abilities such as memory retention, critical thinking, and problem-solving. There is always so much to read and learn. Did you know that by reading 20 minutes a day you'll read 1,800,000 words per year? Happy Reading.

Principal Enrichment Trip

As I embark on my principal enrichment trip, "Journey of St. Paul," travelling through Greece and Turkey, Keena will be taking the reins and writing our next two newsletters. I look forward to sharing my experiences and insights with you all from afar! Following this journey, I will be heading to the UK for some long service leave, where I will also have the opportunity to explore the UK education system. My last day before departing will be Thursday, 5th September.

Wishing you all a wonderful school holiday break, and I look forward to reconnecting upon my return!
