Be Kind, Be safe, Be respectful, Be responsible, Be resilient, Be ready

At Our Lady Star of the Sea, we continue to see our students living out Catholic faith activities with joy, generosity and a strong sense of community. We are delighted to share that our school choir has been invited to sing at the Cowes Baptist Church Car Boot Sale this Saturday at 10:00 am. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to share their musical gifts beyond our school grounds and to strengthen connections within our wider community. We are very proud of their enthusiasm and commitment, and thank our families for their ongoing support.

Some of our students will also proudly represent our Catholic school at the World Day of Prayer Service this Friday, joining with combined Christian churches across our community. This special gathering is a meaningful expression of unity among Christian traditions, and we are honoured that our students will take part in this important time of shared prayer and reflection.

Our senior students have been deeply engaged in learning about the mission and work of Caritas Australia as part of their Lenten journey towards Easter. This learning has been truly wonderful, as students have explored themes of compassion, justice and service, and have developed a deeper understanding of how they can make a difference in the lives of others. Inspired by their learning, our senior students have initiated the idea to raise funds for Caritas by creating a “Long Walk for Water” activity on Holy Thursday, our final day of term. This powerful experience will help students build empathy for those around the world who must walk long distances each day to access clean water, while actively supporting the important work of Caritas. We commend our students for turning their learning into action and for embracing the true spirit of Lent as we journey together toward Easter.  We look forward to hearing about their plan for our last day of term.

In addition to these faith-filled experiences, our students have been enthusiastically participating in a range of sporting opportunities. Through the Sporting Schools program, students have enjoyed learning the skills and strategies of lacrosse, building teamwork and confidence along the way. Our Grade 5 and 6 students have also continued to enjoy learning lawn bowls with local members of the Phillip Island Bowling Club, developing new skills while strengthening connections with our local community.

All of this, along with the rich learning experiences provided through our curriculum each week, truly makes our school an exciting hub of opportunity, growth and faith-filled experiences for every student.

Warm regards,
