Swimming Carnivals

Next week, the school swimming carnivals will be held at Pittwater House. The College carnival is on Monday, 16th February, the Grammar carnival is on Tuesday, 17th February, and the Junior School (Years 3-6) carnival will be on Wednesday, 18th February. 

Students can wear sports uniforms with a touch of house color to and from school. They may increase their house color outfits during the carnival. Year 11 and 12 students must stay until the end of the event unless they have TAFE scheduled on the Tuesday afternoon. 

Mobile phones are prohibited to promote engagement and prevent photography.

Food options include a sausage sizzle by the Pittwater House Parents Association, with cookies, chips, and drinks also available. Students need cash or debit cards. Normal lunch orders will be delivered to the pool. A coffee van will be available for hot drinks. Please note, there is no on-site parking for parents during the event.

Additionally, photography and filming are not permitted as Pittwater House is a Child Safe School.

Mathematics Faculty - Upcoming Competitions

As we begin a new academic year, I would like to warmly welcome all parents and students to another exciting year of learning in Mathematics. Our faculty is already enjoying the positive energy in classrooms as students settle into routines and begin engaging with new and challenging material. We continue to offer many opportunities for students to extend their mathematical thinking beyond the regular curriculum, and several key competitions will once again be available throughout the year.

This year we will continue to offer the KSF (AMT) competition for Years 7 to 11 from Tuesday 24 March to Thursday 26 March, the CAT (AMT) competition for Years 7 to 11 from Tuesday 19 May to Thursday 21 May, the AMC (AMT) from Tuesday 4 August to Thursday 6 August, and ICAS Mathematics during the week of Monday 24 August to Friday 28 August. These competitions are open to all students, and the specific dates for our school will be shared closer to each event.

An exciting event in the school calendar is the HICES external competition, which will take place on Wednesday 17 June in Oakhurst. This year we plan to take two teams from Year 7 and Year 8, and participation in this event is by invitation. 

Last year we saw many achievements across all stages and in a range of competitions, reflecting not only strong effort but also the curiosity and determination of our students. It is inspiring to see so many young mathematicians challenging themselves, thinking critically, solving problems creatively, and taking genuine pride in their learning.
