SUPER EFFORTS @
BEACHSIDE BASKETBALL
We’d like to congratulate our nine Year 5 & 6 boys that represented our Dendy District at the Beachside Basketball Playoffs tournament on Monday. Despite some really strong skills the team came away with 3 narrow losses over the day. The team came up against a very strong and tall St. Michael’s Grammar, St. Peter’s Bentleigh and Elwood PS, with their final two games being only out-scored in the final minutes of each game.
A massive thank you goes to Chris O’Brien (Boston’s dad) for his brilliant coaching efforts with the boys throughout both tournaments. His positive and encouraging approach to every play was a contributing factor to the success of the team. Thanks also to the scorers Sarah and Carla and to all the parents that assisted with car-pooling the students on the day.

WHAT A ‘BLAST’ OF A DAY!
YR. 5&6 CRICKET BLAST
Last Friday we had four Year 5 & 6 cricket teams walk to the nearby Dendy Park lower ovals for a fun day of round-robin cricket games against other Dendy schools. For some students it was their first experience of competitive cricket, so lots of learning and skill-development was evident! It was fabulous to witness the bonding between team members, supporting parents and teachers and the true St. Finbar’s spirit was well and truely on display, with some wonderful inclusive and supportive moments witnessed. A massive thank you to Kelly Anderson, Simone De Niese, Callum Mills and Shannon Bourke who assisted with coaching, scoring and umpiring our teams with Tania, over the day. Tomorrow our four Year 3 & 4 Cricket Blast teams have their big day of games at Dendy Park. Please refer to the Cricket Blast Permission Operoo for all requirements.
WHOLE SCHOOL SWIMMING CARNIVAL
Please look out for an Operoo next week regarding everything about our upcoming Whole School Swimming Carnival, which is set to take place on Friday 28th November at MSAC outdoor swimming pool in Albert Park. The Junior and Senior carnival will be run in the same pool, with a boom separating the pool into two. The Juniors will swim in 3 events, in a shallow-80cm depth water, with noodle and staff support if required. Our Year 3-6’s select which events they wish to swim in, both 25m and 50m options.
House Swimming caps: compulsory.
Please make sure your child/ren have theirs at home, ready to bring and wear on the day. New caps can be purchased via the office.
