This term, parliamo Italiano!
Preps
This term, our Prep students have received their very own Italiano Language Journey Passport! Through fun and interactive activities, they’ve been exploring key language skills such as greetings, classroom instructions, numbers, colours, days of the week, and how to express their feelings – all in Italian.
Years 1 & 2
Students in Years 1 and 2 are continuing their Italiano Language Journey Passport. To support their language learning, they’re also delving into Italian culture — discovering Carnevale, famous Italians like Leonardo da Vinci, and delicious Italian foods, including different types of pasta and what makes gelato different from ice cream.
Years 3 & 4
This term, students in Years 3 and 4 have been exploring elements of Italian culture and landmarks. Through engaging videos, stories, activities, and visuals, they’ve discovered natural wonders like le Dolomiti and Lago di Garda, as well as iconic landmarks such as il Colosseo, la Torre di Pisa, and il Vesuvio. Along the way, they’ve expanded their vocabulary and deepened their curiosity about Italy’s rich heritage, geography, and cultural treasures.
Years 5 & 6
Students in Years 5 and 6 have begun creating their own Italian regional portfolios, exploring landmarks, traditions, and unique cultural traits from different parts of Italy. Alongside this cultural journey, they are building their Italian vocabulary and practising grammar structures. By connecting language with geography and identity, students are developing a deeper intercultural understanding and a greater appreciation for Italy’s regional diversity.
Grazie,
