STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT

EVELYN LARSEN
St Joseph's College Year 10 student Evelyn Larsen has been chosen to participate in Mission ShakthiSAT. This female-led STEM initiative that brings together 12,000 girls from across 108 countries.
Evelyn is one of only four girls chosen to represent Australia. She left for New Delhi last week and will return when the launch event concludes on 31 August at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida.
Mission participants collaborate on real-time satellite projects that will explore the cosmos, foster intercultural communication, and inspire a new generation of astronauts and STEM experts.
Congratulations to Evelyn on this out-of-this-world opportunity!
ASHER BRIGANTE
In Community Issue 4, you might remember reading that Year 11 student Asher Brigante was heading to Papua New Guinea to hike the Kokoda Trail as part of a group sponsored by The National Party of Australia. Asher was one of two students from Mildura selected for this once in a lifetime opportunity. Check out a few photos above of Asher on this amazing excursion.
CHARLIZE PATERSON
Year 11 student Charlize Paterson has been selected for Basketball Victoria’s Lead Your Way – Girls Leadership Program. She is one of only 12 girls selected from basketball associations across Victoria and will represent the Mildura Basketball Association.
Basketball's increasing popularity among high school students means that there would have been many applicants to this program. Charlize’s selection shows that she is a remarkable and well-rounded athlete. Congratulations!
SOPHIE LLOYD
Sophie Lloyd was in the team that represented the Mildura District at this year’s Victoria Youth Parliament in Melbourne during the first week of the winter school holidays.
She and her fellow delegates received specialised training and researched important issues. The team then worked together to prepare a bill that they debated in the Victorian Parliament over three days.
After considerable hard work and exemplary dedication, the team achieved great success when their Support Systems for Youth Offenders Reform Bill 2026was passed by the Youth Parliament. You can read more here.
DANCE WITHOUT LIMITS
St Joseph's College students Maddison, Violet, Indi and Ava all performed at the 10th anniversary of the Limitless Dance Academy at the Mildura Arts Centre over the weekend of 11 and 12 July.
Congratulations to them all for not one, but two thrilling performances! Violet was among the dancers specifically acknowledged for being at the Academy from the very start.
