SUNRAYSIA SOCCER CHAMPS

These four should look pretty familiar by now!

Gianluca Dimasi, Angus Breeze, Lee-min Sheehan and Ahmed Hassan competed in the Under 16 Boys division at the Victorian Soccer Country Championships in Geelong over the June long weekend.

As part of the Sunraysia team, the boys played 8 games in total. The team topped the group stage and won both their semifinal and grand final with ease. They scored a whopping 18 goals across the 8 games! (And other teams only scored 1 goal against them in the tournament.)

For the third year in a row they are part of the team who won the Under 16 Boys Championships!!! Bravo, lads!

KOKODA BOUND

Asher Brigante (Year 11) will spend his school holidays in Papua New Guinea on the Kokoda Trail, one of only two students who will join the Nationals MP for Mildura, Jade Benham, on this once in a lifetime journey.

To secure this amazing opportunity, Asher first applied for a National Party of Victoria scholarship. The application included a 1400-word essay about his own family’s connections to Australia’s military history.

Naturally, Asher has been training hard to build the strength and endurance he will need for this experience. We wish him all the best! Look for an update on this inspiring story also in Term 3.
