Supporting Executive Functioning at School and Home

At Brighton Primary School, we are committed to helping every child develop the skills they need to learn, grow and become confident, independent learners. One important area that supports student success is executive functioning — the set of mental skills that help children plan, organise, focus, remember instructions and manage their emotions.
These skills develop gradually throughout childhood and are strengthened when schools and families work together to support them. In the attached article, our leadership team outline how executive functioning is supported at school, along with practical strategies families can use at home to help children build these important life skills.
We hope you find these ideas helpful.
