Term 1 Fundraisingšš°
Thank you to everyone who has once again opened their hearts (and wallets ā both physical and online) to support fundraising across the school this term. Your generosity makes a real difference.
Ā
Our Hot Cross Bun Fundraiser with Bakers Delight Montmorency raised $312 ā thank you to all who placed orders. Please see yesterdayās (Tuesday) Compass post for collection details.Ā
Ā
We sold 1,500 tickets to this year's Easter Raffle which raised just over $4,000 for the school, another huge effort by our community. A special thanks must go to Camp Australia who donated $1,000 to the raffle, which we used to purchase the BP fuel cards. The raffle was drawn this morning and the winners have been published on Compass.
Ā
Our annual Fun Run was another huge success, raising an incredible $19,400 and generating such a positive buzz across the school. Please see Monday afternoonās Compass post regarding prize ordering and key dates. A huge thanks to Azaliaās dad (Exposja Photography) for generously supporting the school with photography for the event, see a Ā selection of the many fantastic shots he took on the day below!

Solar Upgrade ā Complete! āļøš
Weāre pleased to share that the final stages of our solar upgrade are now complete, with the system commissioned yesterday. The project cost was offset by previous fundraising efforts, and it represents an important step forward for the school.
Ā
The new system will support reduced energy costs, increased sustainability and a more environmentally responsible footprint for MPS ā a win for our community and for the planet.
Ā
Oval Update šāāļøš±
The level of excitement and conversation around our future oval upgrade has been fantastic ā Iāve loved being stopped in the yard to hear ideas and enthusiasm from families. While this is very much a longāterm project, Iām genuinely pleased that weāre beginning to get the ball rolling.
Ā
Another big thank you must go to Camp Australia, who have generously donated $10,000 to support our Oval Fund. The next major step is working with Banyule Council to seek grant funding to undertake a planning and feasibility process. This will allow us to understand costs more accurately and continue building evidence of community need.
Ā
Watch this space ā thereās plenty more to come over time.

Principal Class Staffing š«š
We are pleased to confirm that a Principal has now been provisionally appointed and will commence at MPS from the start of Term 2. If you havenāt yet seen the details, please refer to the 'School Council' page of this newsletter.
Ā
I also want to congratulate Ady Wall, who has been acting in the Assistant Principal role throughout Term 1 and will continue in this role into Term 2. The timing of this process was linked to the Principal appointment, and weāre confident that the school continues to be in very good hands moving forward.
Ā
Kristie Returns šāļø
We are excited to welcome Kristie Morrison back to MPS from the start of Term 2 following her maternity leave. Kristie will be returning two days per week, Thursdays and Fridays.
Ā
Each Friday, Kristie will be working in 1D, replacing the role that Claire Gilbert has filled this term. On Thursdays, she will work across the school in a CRT capacity. Weāre very pleased to have Kristie back and I know sheāll receive a warm welcome from our community.
Ā
What a Huge First Term! šš
What a fantastic start to the year it has been. Congratulations to our students, staff and families on such a positive and energetic Term 1.
Ā
A special mention to our Foundation students ā they are almost a quarter of the way through their very first year of school already. Can you believe it?!Ā
Ā
Along the way, weāve celebrated the announcement of our 2026 student leaders, a beautiful Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony to commence the school year, our most successful swimming carnival season to date, Bike Ed across multiple year levels (including some firstāever rides without training wheels!), schoolāwide incursions, NAPLAN, Harmony Week, International Womenās Day celebrations and, of course, our incredible Fun Run.
Ā
Iād also like to personally thank staff and families for the many kind words and messages of support Iāve received alongside the provisional outcome of the Principal appointment process. They have been genuinely appreciated.
Ā
Have a safe and restful break everyone ā we look forward to seeing you in Term 2.
