From Our Principals

End of term
Ten weeks has flown by very fast, as the term 1 break is upon us already. It has been another terrific term at Scoresby Primary School. We have had many events, but what always impresses us is the calm and orderly classrooms that run across our entire school. Our staff have high expectations of their learners and offer well planned and sequential lessons every day. Our Set up for Success Program that we run at the beginning of the year, really sets the tone for the classroom environment, and beyond. It also makes it clear to students that we want them to be good learners.
Congratulations to our whole staff- teachers, our ES and office staff who work tirelessly to ensure they meet the needs of all SPS students. Our school is so fortunate to have such hard working and caring professionals on hand each and every day.
Swimming
Our F- 4s have been swimming for the past 2 weeks. Swimming is an essential lifesaving skill that all children living in this wonderful country should master. Learning to swim takes time and the skills need to be practised. It’s also a time to learn to practise organisational skills of sorting out belongings and making sure you are prepared each day with dry towels and bathers.
Our Foundation students have really done well, as it is still the first term of their school year. They were telling us they other day that they have learned to float on their backs, blow bubbles and get on and off a bus! So much fantastic learning for our youngest ones.
Open Mornings and School Tours
On Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd of March, we opened our school to conduct tours for prospective families. We had several families come in and tour for the coming years. It’s always nice to run these sessions and showcase Scoresby PS.
Enrolments for Foundation 2027 will open on April 20th first day of term 2. If you know of anyone local who has a child ready to start school next year, we are happy to run a school tour for them.
Knox Government School Expo
Our network is showcasing our schools for enrolments into Foundation and Year 7 for 2027. All government schools - primary and secondary in Knox will be showcased.
Learning Specialist
Congratulations to Kellie Symons who has picked up our substantive Learning Specialist position. Kellie has been acting in the role for the past year. She has been working hard in many areas of our school, and she also oversees much of the behind the scenes work that keeps us rolling along. Kellie sets up our reporting system, data tracking and her big initiative was the introduction of our Rainbow Maths Program, which she investigated and designed for use at Scoresby PS.
We are thrilled to have Kellie take up the role and continue to work with her on curriculum and reporting projects into the future.
School Council Elections
Our School Council elections have been completed for this year, and we are pleased to announce our School Council for 2026.

School fees for 2026
Thank you to the families that have paid their school fees or those who have set up a payment plan.
Schools purchase stationery, classroom equipment and programs at the end of each year, and most of these costs are covered by our school fees. No child in public schooling misses out on these items, and the parent contribution of school fees greatly assists us in covering this expenditure.
Please see Tina or Sue if you would like to discuss school fees and payment plans.
