Hello parents & Carers

What a fantastic few week’s it has been! It’s hard to believe that we have finished week 8!

Our students have jumped into their learning with excitement, and the buzz around the school has been great to see. Every day brings a new moment of achievement, curiosity or laughter, and it’s a joy to see our students thriving.

A big thank you to our amazing staff for their consistency, care and dedication, and to our families for the ongoing support you bring.  A HUGE shout out goes to Kristy Jackson and Alice Harris for their incredible work over many years to achieve this award. When we work together, wonderful things happen, and this award is a perfect example of that.

Congratulations to our whole community—what a fantastic moment for MSS!

📝SSG’s & Individual Education Plans (IEPs) 📝

Thank you to all families who attended their SSG meeting. Minutes will be uploaded to Compass in Week 9 for you to review.

Teachers are also currently finalising Term 1 IEPs for all students. These plans outline each student’s learning goals and the strategies we use to support their progress. Once complete, IEPs will be shared with families for your review and input. We look forward to working together to set meaningful goals for your child.

🛑STATEWIDE STOP WORK – 24TH MARCH🛑

The Australian Education Union (AEU) has planned a statewide stop‑work action for school staff across Victoria. This is part of their ongoing discussions with the government.

What does this mean for us?

Earlier this week I sent a Compass/SEESAW message to families on what this means for MSS. We have included this information in this newsletter. This can be found in our Community News page.

We will keep you updated if anything changes and we thank you for your flexibility, understanding.

🚗Gate 4 & Carer Pick‑Up – Important Update🚗

At Melton Specialist School, student safety is always our top priority.

To continue strengthening our processes, we are making some updates to how Gate 4 and carer pick‑up operates.

To ensure students are going home with authorised carers, all carers who are picking up before our normal pick-up time which begins at 3.00pm will now be required to check in at Reception to receive a “Carer Approved” card or if collecting at Gate 4 requires a Approved Carer Pick Up sign for the car.

Further information and what these cards look like can be found in our Community New page.  Please take the time to read.

We thank you for your support in this process.

It’s hard to believe we are heading into the last two weeks of term! A big thank you to everyone for keeping our school buzzing with energy, kindness and teamwork.

Let’s keep the momentum going and wrap up the term on a positive note
