Message from the Principal
Dear parents, carers and friends of EEPS,
Our Year 4 students have had a fantastic time at Camp Adanac over the last three days. Fortunately, the heavy rain from the weekend did not extend into the week. I wasn’t able to attend, but the reports back have been extremely positive about our Year 4 cohort - well done everyone!
Full Funding of Primary Schools
Many parents may be aware of the ongoing concern that Victorian Government schools have not been receiving the full allocation of Commonwealth Government spending for schools. It was very positive to see that the Premier has signed the agreement to ensure that this will now happen. Eltham East, like all other schools, will diligently use every dollar of allocated funding for improving student learning. I look forward to this increased funding making a difference when it finally does start flowing. Below is part of the message from the Minister:
Yesterday (last week), the Victorian and the Commonwealth governments signed the bilateral Better and Fairer Schools Agreement, also known as the Gonski reforms. This means that we will deliver full and fair funding to Victorian public schools. This is about giving us the ability to continue the work we have been doing in Victoria to make public schools the best in the country.
First Aid / Hay Fever
With the spring weather there has been an increase of hay fever like symptoms with children in the school. Chris and Stef, our first-aid officers have suggested that susceptible children may like to consider taking antihistamine before coming to school in the mornings. Luckily, the heavy rain over the weekend has certainly helped relieve symptoms for many people.
World Teachers’ Day - Let’s Celebrate!
This Friday, 30th October is World Teachers’ Day. If families could make an effort to send a nice message or card to one or more of the fabulous EEPS teachers on Friday I know that would mean a great deal. We do live in an incredibly supportive community, and it was lovely to receive many birthday messages earlier this week - thank you! As a Leadership team, we are going to hold a lovely morning tea for our teachers.
Feedback From One of Our Teachers
Whilst there are always lots of wonderful things happening at EEPS, I thought it would be fitting to share a message from Mr Coates to the Year 6 students and teachers:
Dear Year 6 students and teachers,
A quick email to congratulate you on your efforts creating your Graduation masks this term. They look great and you can tell how much effort and care have been put into their creation. I would also like to thank you for your responsible use of the hot glue guns. I did not have to remind or ban ANYONE from using them, which is a credit to you all!
Well done to all our Year 6 students. This is a great start to a very busy, last term at primary school.
Coming Up
Democracy Sausage Sizzle
On Saturday 28th November, State Election Day, we are holding our democracy sausage sizzle and cookie stall. Please see the attached flyer and work out a time that you can help. Regardless of your political opinions it is always a fun day and a fabulous way to give back to the school.
Student Disco
Next week we are holding the annual student disco, Prep-2 on Thursday and Years 3-6 on Friday. It is such a fun event, and we invite students to be involved. Please see the Compass event for further information and for participation.
Cup Weekend
Please remember that next Monday is a Curriculum Day (Student free day) followed by Cup Day on Tuesday.
Have a great week of Learning and Growing Together.
Kind regards
Warren Lloyd
Principal
