MIDDLE School
Dear Parents/Carers and Students
As 2024 draws to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has been a fantastic year in Middle School. Our Years 9 and 10 students have achieved so much, and I am incredibly proud of their growth, resilience, and contributions. It has been inspiring to see them embrace challenges, support one another, and make the most of every opportunity throughout the year.
I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our Year 9 Captains, Ruby Varney, Archie Frew, Diti Djorgievski, Charlotte Warrior, and our Year 10 Captains, Ahmed Ahmed, Sophie McKee, Joash Xaver, and Felicity Childs. Their outstanding leadership has been instrumental in fostering a supportive and enriching environment for their peers.
I also want to acknowledge the incredible contributions of students involved in leadership roles, including the Student Leadership Council (SLC), Year Level Captains, Interact, and Eco Teams. This year, these teams organised many significant events and launched new initiatives, such as the Solar Schools Initiative and a mentoring program for our Year 7 students. Their dedication and teamwork have truly made a difference.
None of this would have been possible without the support and guidance of our dedicated Leadership Team. I want to thank Mrs Sarah Bahramis, Head of Student Voice, Leadership and Agency; Mr Jon Christie, Interact and SLC Coordinator; Mr Anthony Keane, SLC Coordinator; and Mr Brendan McKinnon, Environmental Sustainability Coordinator, for their tireless efforts in ensuring our students' voices were heard and their leadership potential nurtured.
I also want to express my gratitude to our exceptional Middle School Leadership Team for their commitment and hard work. This team included Ms Paige Jessulat, Head of Year 10; Mr Darin Joyce, Head of Year 9; Ms Jasmine Rabinov and Mr Liam McDonald, Year 10 Coordinators; Ms Hannah Martin and Ms Victoria Stewart, Year 9 Coordinators; and Mrs Bianca Johnson, Middle School Admin Support Officer. Their dedication made possible a range of fantastic opportunities for our students, including Year 9 Discovery Week, the unforgettable Year 9 Cairns camp, Year 10 Work Experience, and numerous wellbeing programs and assemblies. These experiences have helped our students grow, connect with one another, and prepare for the challenges of senior school.
A big thank you also goes to our 2024 House Leaders: Mrs Imogen Slinger for Brim, Mrs Kim Drever for Yawa, Mr Matthew Cara for Barrbunin, and Mrs Cindy Bryant for Tir-rer, along with Mrs Jessica Bambridge, Head of Connectedness. Their passion and dedication have been pivotal in nurturing house spirit through sporting activities and events, strengthening our school’s sense of community and pride.
To all our Years 9 and 10 students and their families, thank you for being part of our vibrant Middle School community. Your support, enthusiasm, and commitment to learning have made this year truly memorable.
