Invitation to Participate in the Maribyrnong City Council Play Strategy Development
Council is committed to partnering with the community to provide and advocate for integrated built and natural environments with access to open spaces that are well maintained, engaging, accessible and respectful of the community and neighbourhoods.
We recognise that the provision of well-planned neighbourhoods support wellbeing, healthy and safe living, connection to the community, and cultural interaction.
In order support our work, we are seeking your views and input to how we can improve and support children’s access to open spaces in Maribyrnong.
Play Australia, the national peak body for play, has been asked by Council to gather community feedback via a series of individual 30 minute interviews with key members of the community currently working with children and families in Maribyrnong.
We know from current child development research that play is essential for the healthy development of our children. In particular, we know that risk is a factor in all children’s play. Opportunities to take risks during play not only supports development but builds a child’s resilience and their capacity to manage risk appropriately in later life.
We would welcome your input into the process that will help shape and inform our internal policies on management of play spaces and risk.
To book an appointment to speak with a Play Australia representative please go to: https://calendly.com/ceo-evy/maribyrnong
Interview time slots are available from 8.30am until 8.30pm daily until 15 September 2023.
Should you have any questions or queries regarding the above, please do not hesitate to contact me via the details below.
