Interested in a Career with Victoria Police or becoming a PSO?

Victoria Police is planning a pilot intake to open police officer applications to 17-year-olds later this year.

We are reaching out to see if any students aged 17 would be interested. The application period will open later this year, and successful applicants will be offered police recruit positions throughout 2027. To be eligible to apply students must be;

  • 17 years of age (during application period) and have a learner's permit.

Victoria Police will provide engagement sessions, familiarisation sessions at the Victoria Police Academy and help guide these applicants throughout the police recruitment process.

Why?

Establishing an early entry recruitment pathway enables Victoria Police to identify, engage and retain perspective applicants from career starter cohorts, prior to them reaching the minimum application age.

By opening applications to 17-year-olds, the initiative seeks to build a dedicated, pre-qualified talent pool that can be developed and maintained as an ongoing recruitment pipeline. This approach aims to capture candidate interest at a critical decision-making stage, strengthen early engagement, and reduce the likelihood of potential applicants pursuing alternative career pathways.
