Principal's Report
Term 2, Week 5
Dear St FX Parents and Carers,
Catholic Schools Week
Armidale Catholic Schools will celebrate Catholic Schools Week from the 25- 31 May 2025. This event marks a time to celebrate the achievements of our school communities and acknowledge the people dedicated to providing quality learning and a nurturing environment for every student and staff member across our system of schools.
This year’s theme ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ speaks to joy, spirit and light. As the late Pope Francis so beautifully expressed it: “We must fan the flame of hope that has been given us, and help everyone to gain new strength and certainty by looking to the future with an open spirit, a trusting heart and far-sighted vision.”
Please help us celebrate with a special assembly, this Friday 30th May at 12:15pm. We have open classrooms, memorabilia to view in the library and cake to celebrate our 140th year of St Francis Xavier’s school!
In addition, some of our student leaders will be attending the Catholic Schools Week Mass at the Cathedral in Armidale. A great experience and wonderful way to connect our schools in the Diocese.
Eisteddfod 2025
It was disappointing that the annual Narrabri Eisteddfod could not go ahead however, our students are still preparing and rehearsing and keen to present their items at our upcoming Grandparents day celebration on 19th June. Everything from musical items to group speech to dance performances…we’ll have it all!
Federation Farm
Federation Farm is not only a wonderful environmental initiative but it is a great community asset. The farm allows the students of Narrabri to be involved with the agricultural activity which occurs on the farm and gives them the opportunity to propagate trees which are later planted as part of a Landcare strategy. Currently, St Francis Xavier’s is without a parent representative and we are seeking expressions of interest to attend meetings once a term. If you are interested please contact Emma in our office to register your interest!
National Reconciliation Week
National Reconciliation Week in Narrabri begins May 27 to June 3, 2025. The theme is "Bridging Now to Next". This theme encourages our students to look ahead and continue working towards a more unified and respectful nation, while acknowledging the lessons of the past.
General Note
Good luck to our students who are competing in the Gary McSweeney Cup which is a 10-a-side Rugby Union competition. Gary McSweeney was a legend in the ACS Diocese and known for his firm and fair approach to school sport, consistently advocating for all students in the sporting arena.
