Dear Parents and Caregivers

 

Our year 5 and 6 students have been participating in summer Inter school sports throughout the term.

Some of those teams have successfully made it to the Finals Day on Thursday the 2nd April.

 

Please note that parents are welcome to watch the sports with the exception of games at Coatesville Primary School (Basketball) and Oakleigh Grammar (Volleyball) due to those Schools policies.

These two Schools will need to run their usual school day so have requested no spectators.

 

The following teams will be competing in the Finals Day next Thursday:

 

Cricket

MPS 2nd vs St Peters at Duncan MacKinnon first game at 10.00am Game 2 11.20am - 12.35pm

 

Softball Boys  

MPS 3rd vs Oakleigh South at Duncan MacKinnon Reserve first game at 10.00am Game 2 11.20am - 11.55pm

 

Flag Tag Boys

MPS 2nd vs Oakleigh Grammar at Mackie Reserve Game 1 at 10.00am Game 2 11.20am - 11.55pm

Flag Tag Girls

MPS 4th vs St Peters at Mackie Reserve Game 1 at 10.40am Game 2 12.00pm - 12.35pm

 

Volleyball (all 3 teams) - Parents cannot attend this event on school grounds.

Volleystars 1st vs St Andrews at Oakleigh Grammar Games commence at 10.00am and conclude at 12.35pm

Girls 4th vs St Andrews at Oakleigh Grammar Games commence at 10.00am and conclude at 12.35pm

Mixed 4th vs St Andrews at Oakleigh Grammar Games commence at 10.00am and conclude at 12.35pm

 

Basketball Mixed B - Parents cannot attend this event on school grounds.

Teams who have missed out on the Finals are:

MURRUMBEENA PRIMARY SCHOOL SENIOR AND JUNIOR CROSS COUNTRY 2026

 

Murrumbeena Primary School held their third annual senior and junior cross-country events in perfect conditions this week.

 

On Monday our senior students (grades 3-6) took to our Boyd Park course with a real buzz and energy around every race.

 

Our top 9 runners from girls 9/10, boys 9/10. Girls 11, boys 11, girls 12/13 and boys 12/13 have been selected to represent our school at next terms Bentleigh District Cross Country to be held at Bald Hill on Tuesday the 5th of May.

 

Our winning runner in each group are as follows:

 

Girls 9/10 year olds – Amelia B

Boys 9/10 year olds – Tommy P

Girls 11 year olds – Jessica H

Boys 11 year olds – Jack B

Girls 12/13 year olds – Sophie H

Boys 12/13 year olds – Mathias B

 

Tuesday saw our Juniors (Preps to grade 2’s) turn to showcase all their hard work and running ability on our Murrumbeena Primary School course.

 

Special praise must go to our Preppies running in their first ever School Cross Country who were absolutely amazing and loved the experience of running with their peers and in front of a very enthusiastic, supportive crowd.

 

Our Junior winning runner for each grade for 2026 were:

Girls Preps – Evie M

Boys Preps – Ethan C

Girls Grade 1 – Delilah T

Boys Grade 1 – Kaelan H

Girls Grade 2 – Daisy S

Boys Grade 2 – Archie P

 

Special thanks to all our amazing staff who helped on the day and our School and House Captains who contributed greatly to the smooth running of our Junior Cross Country on Tuesday.

 

Best of luck to our selected Senior students who will represent the School in the upcoming Bentleigh District Cross Country in May.

All coaches have agreed that an inclement weather policy will continue to be used for 2026. If it is raining there will be no training on that day. Please do not send your child to school early on these days as there will not be teacher supervision.
