DEBATING

This week, our debating teams participated in their third round of debates at Grange Primary School. The Year 5 students confidently argued the topic "That Year 5s should not do homework," while the Year 6 teams debated the challenging topic "That fines should be based on income."

All students spoke with confidence and were able to rebut with greater accuracy, showing fantastic progress. Both Year 5 teams won their debates. One of our Year 6 teams also secured a win, as the other team was unable to compete due to a forfeit. However, they were still able to present their speeches and benefit from extended feedback from the adjudicators. Congratulations to Isaac, who was awarded Best Speaker. While the second Year 6 team didn’t win their round, they presented strong, well-reasoned arguments in a high-level and competitive debate. Well done to all debaters. We look forward to seeing your progress with two more rounds next term.

NAIDOC Week 2025

National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday to Sunday), to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth. You can support and get to know your local Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities through activities and events held across the country.
