Building Update

Last week we had our 3 friendship benches installed and they have been well received by our students. The idea of  the benches is for students who have no one to play with to go to the benches and other students will encourage them to play with them or find other children for them to play with.

Our student leaders presented this to our school at assembly last Friday. This is not a new concept, however our last bench was destroyed in our building works and so there has not been benches in place for some time and our newer students will not be aware of the system in place.

We continue to be in the defect stage for our Building works, as well as some outstanding works that have not yet been completed.

These include:

  • Line markings on the oval path and in the heart of the school. (Arrows, hopscotch etc.)
  • Rectification of garden beds
  • Mulching along Bendoran Crescent.
  • Repairs and maintenance of our drinking fountains throughout the school.

In addition to this we also have a late works package which will include:

  • Bin surrounds for our wheelie bins
  • Decals/murals in the Learning Community toilets
  • New external doors and hardware for the Hall (Stage 1)
  • Joinery in the Admin Building
  • Replacement of staff benchtop in the staffroom (due to damage)
  • Additional trolley for Life Skills Hub
  • Decal/room numbers in all buildings to match the Learning Community
  • Ramps/decking to the remaining portable. We have had confirmation our second portable will be removed at some stage this year. We have been informed this will not take place this term.

Additional items may be added to the late works package once the budget is finalised, and we can determine how much money is left in our allocated grants.

Moving forward we will start planning our official opening of all our buildings. We hope for this to take place in term 1 of 2025, however this will be discussed and finalised in the coming months. This will be a major event and will include members of our present and past school community, officials from the department etc.

Please contact me at any time if you have any concerns or questions regarding our building project.
