A Fantastic Start to Term 3!
What a wonderful start to Term 3! It has been fantastic to see our students and staff return with enthusiasm, energy and excitement for the term ahead. Our learning spaces have quickly come alive with engaging learning, smiling faces and a genuine eagerness to embrace the many opportunities that Term 3 has to offer. However, as we continue through the winter months, we are still experiencing a high number of cold and flu cases across our community. To help keep everyone healthy, we kindly ask that if your child is unwell, they remain at home until they are feeling better. This is one of the best ways we can minimise the spread of illness and protect the wellbeing of all students and staff. A reminder that all student absences must be explained. The easiest way to do this is through Sentral, or you are welcome to contact our school office where a staff member will be happy to assist you.
Commonwealth Games Sports Day
On Tuesday, our school was buzzing with excitement as we celebrated our very own Commonwealth Games Sports Day. It was wonderful to see students and staff proudly dressed in their house colours and embracing the spirit of teamwork, participation and healthy competition.
The day began with a vibrant Opening Ceremony in the hall before students rotated through a range of Commonwealth Games-themed activities in their learning spaces. After recess, the whole school headed outdoors to compete in the four scored House events—Long Jump, 50-metre Sprint, Soccer Penalty Goal Kicking and the Bean Bag Throw. Students displayed outstanding resilience and encouragement as they proudly represented their House teams.
Following lunch, students enjoyed a variety of fun indoor and outdoor activities before everyone gathered for the Closing Ceremony. Congratulations to Blue House, who were crowned our 2026 Commonwealth Games Champions! It was an incredibly close competition, with the final results being:
1st – Blue Ox 760 points
2nd – Red Dragon 736 points
3rd – Green Snake 710 points
4th – Yellow Tiger 642 points
A huge thank you goes to Mr Keleher for his leadership of this wonderful event, and to our dedicated Student Leaders who helped run the day with such enthusiasm and professionalism. Days like these create lasting memories while reinforcing the importance of teamwork, perseverance and school pride. See page 5 of the newsletter for some highlights!
Foundation–Year 2 Parent Teacher Interviews
On Wednesday we welcomed our Foundation to Year 2 families for Parent Teacher Interviews. Thank you to all our parents and carers for arriving promptly for your appointments and for taking the time to meet with your child's teacher.
With many interpreters moving between appointments throughout the afternoon and evening, the schedule was incredibly busy, yet everything ran seamlessly thanks to the outstanding organisation of Mrs Harkness. Thank you also to our teachers and interpreters for ensuring every family had the opportunity to discuss their child's learning and progress.
These conversations are such an important part of our home-school partnership. They provide families with the opportunity to celebrate their child's achievements, gain a deeper understanding of their learning journey, discuss next steps and work together with teachers to support continued growth and success. When schools and families work in partnership, our students are the greatest beneficiaries.
A reminder to our Year 3–6 families that Parent Teacher Interviews/Student-Led Conferences will be held next Wednesday, 29th July. If you have not yet booked your appointment, please do so as soon as possible and remember to add it to your calendar. We look forward to seeing you next week.
Save the Date – School Concert 2026!
The countdown is on... our School Concert is coming this term!
Following consultation with staff, students and families, we have made the decision to move our school concert from Term 4 to Term 3. With an already very busy Term 4 calendar, the overwhelming feedback was that Term 3 would provide a much better opportunity for families to attend and for students to fully enjoy the experience.
We have also changed the performance to an afternoon concert to encourage greater participation from our Kindergarten community and to better support the family commitments of our staff.
