A message from the Principal

2024 Staff

As shared in our last newsletter, we have been busy over the last few weeks with our 2024 transition program - welcoming our new Foundation students to school and also creating the well-balanced groups which will be our classes for next year.

Tomorrow (Thursday) sees our final transition session, and groups will continue to be tweaked and adjusted to ensure students each have a chosen friend or two as 2024 classmates and that we have also got the right balance of year levels, personalities and strengths to set us up for a great year.

With these groups almost complete, we will soon assign teachers to them to help bring out these strengths, build relationships and ensure that strong progress is made on all fronts in 2024.

A few weeks ago, I shared the new staffing appointments that we have made to our team and we are really excited to welcome Emily, Roy, Joe and Alex to SKiPPS and see the relationships they will build and the impact they will have at our school.

Sadly the end of the year means that we will also be saying farewell to a handful of staff members who are moving on.

Stephanie De Cerff will be taking on a new role at Mount Pleasant Road PS in Nunawading next year and we thank her for her work with the Year 1/2 team this year and her leadership of ICT at SKiPPS.

Michael Roper is also stepping back from the Performing Arts position in order to concentrate on his many other commitments and musical groups. We are really excited that he will continue his involvement in our SKiPPS orchestra and so will remain a part of our school community.

Cath Sullivan's and Lisa Richards' part-time class teacher positions are also coming to an end but we are excited that we will still see them regularly at SKiPPS next year in casual teaching roles.

This means that our staffing for next year looks as follows;

We are incredibly lucky that, in amongst a staffing crisis in our sector that means many schools across the state are still finding it hard to fill positions for 2024, we have been able to attract and build such a strong team of passionate and skilled educators.

We feel we have a great balance of experience and enthusiasm in each team and are looking forward to seeing how our teachers collaborate and support each other to provide an excellent education for your children next year.
