With Mother’s day last week at OSHC, we celebrated ‘Parenting week’. This week is all about celebrating the special adults who pick up the students each afternoon. We use this week as a way of teaching children about gratitude and giving back to those who do so much for them. This means that for the week, our take home snack is offered to whoever picks up the students in the afternoon.
It was a great week to be on pick up duty with a lots of yummy freshly baked goodies on offer. If you missed out, our second parenting week will take place the week leading up to Father’s Day.
Craft activities were canvas heart magnets which students painted and some enjoyed the sunshine and made handprint flowers and turning them into everlasting bouquets. Other students made their special adults kits and cards.
As the weather starts to get colder, more children have been snuggling up in our book nook with a blanket and a book to read. Others have opted to warm up by playing big games of soccer, ‘The Floor is Lava’, cricket and tennis. Yesterday we danced the afternoon away with an impromptu dance party and had fresh baked choc chip cookies for take home snack to celebrate National Choc Chip day.
At Before Care, filming of part 2 of ‘The Legends of Daisy’ has been underway. This project is filmed, acted and directed by students and we are planning a movie premiere for those in the program very soon!
Sand bagging has continued at OSHC this week as well as some more garden clean up. At the working bee on Saturday we have a load of new soft fall being delivered to be spread which will be great!
See you next week ready for another fun filled five days!
