Principal's Message

Carmela D'Amato

Farewell and Best Wishes

Dear Families,

I hope that you have all had a wonderful break and that you are ready to fill our classrooms again! I am incredibly grateful to Liz Sarpa for generously stepping into the role of Acting Principal, and to Maria Tasevski for taking on the role of Acting Deputy Principal, in addition to their own allocated responsibilities for Term 1, as I commence my new role at MACS on Tuesday 27th January. Their willingness to lead and serve our community during this transition period is deeply appreciated, as the process begins to appoint a new Principal for School of the Good Shepherd.

Our Leadership Team, as always, is here to help shape our community, support the growth of our students, and nurture the professional growth of our teachers. Their commitment to collaboration, care, and excellence ensures that our school continues to flourish in faith and learning. We invite you to meet the Leadership Team for 2026, who will be working closely with staff, students, and families to lead our community with integrity and purpose.

During the holiday period, there has been a great deal of activity around the school, most notably the installation of our new portable. Located behind the existing portables, it is shaping up to look fantastic. The sections have now been joined together, carpets laid, and the joinery (including a sink) completed. We are currently awaiting the construction of the ramp, and all going well, we are expecting to move in on Wednesday. There is still ample room behind the portable for something exciting to be installed!! Watch this space.

We have also purchased new tables for our Year 5 and 6 classrooms, which look amazing. These are expected to be delivered by the end of next week and will be a wonderful addition to the learning spaces.

We also farewelled our cleaning team, Ultra Cleaning in 2025. we thank them for their many years of service. This year, we welcome our new Cleaning Team from IKON Services Australia. They have already been in a few times over the break to empty our large external bin, set up the cleaning cupboards and to begin cleaning our school.  we look forward to working with them.

On Thursday, we look forward to welcoming all students in Years 1–6, followed by the arrival of our Prep students on Friday. What an exciting two days ahead! For our new Prep parents, once you have settled your child into their classroom, we kindly ask that you make your way to the Parish Hall. For catering purposes, please ensure you complete the form provided.  https://forms.gle/pBkrMbjQUZpnfEGg8

I would like to wish our entire school community an absolutely amazing year ahead. It has been a privilege to be part of such a caring and committed community.

Farewell and God bless.
