EAL Movie Screening
RED WHITE AND BRASS, Student Reflections.
On Tuesday the whole of EAL went to the PAC to watch a movie called red, white and brass. It was a good movie! My favourite part about the movie is when the wannabe gangster had to respect the old lady and he couldn’t do anything. That was a good day! The movie was a good experience to watch. I enjoyed the movie.

“Red, White and Brass”
Maka always gets into trouble but he loves his church so much, so he’ll do anything for it. Maka wanted to watch the Rugby game so he performed just to watch the game for free. Maka taught me how to make things possible by being a team and believing in God.
The movie made me realized that whatever your background is be confident because that’s who you are and be proud of your background.
On Tuesday I had fun watching the movie “Red, White and Brass.” The movie was so funny, everyone enjoyed it.
Lastly, I’m happy to be in EAL because it’s fun and I love my teacher.

Red, White and Brass
The movie “Red White and Brass” was a good movie actually. The best thing it was that we watched the movie with other classrooms too so I sat next to my friend. When we finished the movie we had a lucky wheel that have numbers between 0 to 110. All of the students go numbers. I got the number 100 but sadly I was not lucky that day. But some of my friend won some hats and some people won Popcorn. (HEHE) It was a fun day.

On Tuesday 24th of October 2023 periods 1 and 2 the whole cohort of E.A.L. decided to plan a movie for us called RED WHITE AND BRASS. This movie is based on a true story of a young boy named Maka. Maka wanted to attend the rugby match between France and Tonga Maka the protagonist decides to buy the tickets from a guy who he doesn’t know he s going to get scammed so the Mother decides to go and get the money back from them then during midnight Maka and his family were watching a rugby match then he saw that the marching band gets in for free so he decides to get brass practise with his church mates and he gets so good they allow him to join in the band and this film was extraordinary

My experience of the “Red white and brass“ EAL incursion was amazing and fantastic because the movie was good!! I enjoyed it. Maka the films main character would always be trouble to the people around him like his family friends and his church community. But even though he’s always trouble, Maka cares very much for his church community. Maka wanted to take them all out to the 2011 Tonga verses France World Cup but he didn’t have money. Even when he did, Maka failed multiple times till he pretended to have his own marching band to go watch the World Cup. When they got to the stadium, they made their band Tongan style and went against the church and leaders but it didn’t matter because the Tongan people loved it. I enjoyed watching it with my friends.

RED, WHITE, AND BRASS-REVIEW
On Tuesday the 24th of October throughout years 7-10 we watched a movie called Red, White, And Brass. The movie was based in New Zealand and how in 2011 some young adults wanted to raise money to buy tickets to the Rugby World Cup. Sadly, with the money they raised, they got scammed and got fake tickets. But luckily the game needed some entertainment for the exchange of tickets. The church community decided to start a marching band so they could watch the game. Their dad was dissatisfied with making a marching band but said yes as his wife wanted to. During their audition they had failed because of lack of practice. But they didn’t give up and kept practicing. This time they were successful and got to perform to represent their community and country.
Author’s message- Don’t give up on your dreams.

All EAL students from year 7 to year 10 classes where in the PAC and we watched a movie named Red, White and Brass. The film was about Tongan people who wanted to go to the World Cup but they didn't have the money for it. They started working so hard to get the money but they weren't on time to buy the Tickets before they ran out. All the family started working together to make a band for the Rugby World Cup and they did so well. The film was based on a true story. I like it.
