From the Principal Team

As we step into this final term of the academic year, there is an undeniable presence of celebration and nostalgia in the air. It is a time when we reflect on the journey we have taken and prepare to bid farewell to our year 12 students as they embark on their examination period.

The excitement surrounding our year 12 students' imminent departure is palpable. They have grown and learned so much during their time at Craigieburn Secondary College and we are proud to see them ready to take on new challenges. Their achievements are a testament to their dedication and hard work, and we look forward to celebrating their successes in the coming weeks.

Nostalgia, however, is not limited to the departing seniors. As we look back on the year that has been, we see the remarkable growth, the challenges overcome, and the achievements celebrated throughout our college community. Our students have continued to embrace our core values of Respect, Understanding, Growth, and Belonging as demonstrated through the spectacular achievements during the College Merit League.

Additionally, students from the Craigieburn Secondary College Rugby Program were selected to present team jerseys to the players of the Kiwi Men’s Squad and Kiwi Ferns Women’s Squad for their Melbourne game in week 4. This recognition is a testament to the college's commitment and support of the NRL programs, working in conjunction with the Melbourne Storm. Our students were identified as outstanding members of the rugby league community, and we are immensely proud that they have been chosen to represent the college in this prestigious capacity.

We are excited to celebrate Diwali as a college, as it exemplifies our commitment to the value of Belonging. Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is a time to come together as a diverse community, symbolising the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. It is a reminder of the unity that transcends our differences and strengthens our bonds.

Furthermore, as we approach Remembrance Day, we honour and remember those who have made great sacrifices for our country. It is a time to reflect on the significance of peace, unity, and the enduring values that have shaped our nation. As a college, we also acknowledge the conflict occurring around the world at present. On Remembrance Day, we will also provide students, staff, and members of the wider community with a white poppy. White poppies are worn to remember those who passed in conflict and to demonstrate a commitment to peace. The white poppies will be placed on a peace wall, promoting our college’s dedication towards non-violence, and resolving conflict through peaceful solutions.

As we navigate term 4, may the spirit of Diwali and the solemnity of Remembrance Day serve as powerful reminders of the values that define our community. Let us look forward to the coming weeks with enthusiasm, gratitude, and the commitment to uphold our values of Respect, Understanding, Growth, and Belonging which make our college truly exceptional. Together, we can create a thriving environment where every student can flourish, and where the bonds of our community grow stronger with each passing day.
