SCHOOL FINISHES TERM ON A HIGH NOTE
Donald High’s Annual Battle of the Bands took place on the last day of Term 3. Forty-one students from years 7-11, along with several of their teachers, presented a music extravaganza in which 17 songs were performed to an enthusiastic audience.
School Captains Texas Davis and Abbey Griffiths acted as MC’s and introduced the various acts. Sixteen members of the School Choir performed Rest, 7 Minutes and That’s So True. Year 7 girl’s Ellie Burke, River Sirling, Karleisha Anderson, Marnie Harmer and Isabelle Sandy, sang Bad Habits, followed by Ellie and River singing Shallow. Patience Beavis and Nevaeh Pearse then sang Four Five Seconds, followed by Jasmine Anderson, Karleisha Anderson and Shanae Rotherham performing 2002. Jasmine and Shanae paired up to perform Tennessee Orange, followed by Sophie Burke singing Flowers. Sophie then joined Chelsea Hart and Isabelle Sandy to perform Zombie. Jasmine Anderson joined Chelsea and Isabelle to sing Traitor. Evie Donnellon and Halle Rice sang Stranger and then teamed up with their brothers, Baxter and Luca to perform Madelaine. Baxter and Luca then joined Daniel Cooper to perform Revival and Nine Ball.
Then it was teacher Stuart Potter turn to “strutt his stuff” by singing Another One Bites the Dust and then producing a lively performance of Living on a Prayer, backed up by the Year 12 students.
All songs were performed to a high standard which showed off the wealth of musical talent in the student and staff ranks.
I would like to thank all the performers who played instruments and sang on the day and it was a fun way to finish the term for most of the school’s music students. I was very proud of all my music students
