TheirCare News

Hi parents, guardians, staff, and friends!

Welcome to Week 10 of Term 3.

This week's theme is Our Favourite Memories Week. During the mornings we played board games, soccer-match, sad fish and silent ball. In the gym we played group games such as everybody’s it, and fruit salad - it was great to see them having fun showing tremendous co-operation and teamwork skills. In the afternoons, the children played a variety of sports games such as soccer, netball, downball, and basketball. It was wonderful to see their excellent leadership and sportsmanship. In the Theircare room, the children engaged in a variety of art and craft activities. In the afternoons, some of the children learned to knit using different coloured wool and pencils, they enhanced their creativity and fine motor skills.

Pupil of the Week

This week’s Pupil of the Week is Lachlan Sketchley for being the first one to offer help, showing respect towards everyone and to TheirCare resources, and for always doing the right thing and setting a good example to other children. Well done, Lachlan! You should be so proud of yourself. 😊

Holiday Program Information

Who is getting excited about the upcoming holiday program? We all are! This holiday program we have three massive excursions in which we will be going to see the new movie “The Wild Robot”, going to Bounce and Luna Park! We also have two fun incursions where we will be diving into the world of circus arts through the “Hypnotic Hula-Hoop” incursion and even making our own “AFL Slime”. We also have more exciting in-house activities prepared! We sure will have lots of fun!

Important Holiday Excursion Dates and Time Information

  • Wednesday, 25 September – Movie Day – please drop off no later than 9:30am
  • Monday, 30 September – Bounce – please drop off no later than 10:30am
  • Thursday, 3 October – Luna Park – PLEASE DROP OFF NO LATER THAN 7:30am

Unfortunately, we cannot accept or wait for any children who may be running late as we would then miss out on some of our time on the excursion. We are letting all families know in advance so that there is no confusion, and we can all leave on time and have the best possible experience over the school holidays.

Food Allergies and Medicals

As most families are aware, TheirCare is a nut-free zone, and we would encourage all families to keep this in mind when packing their child’s lunchboxes. At Footscray West, we also have a high number of egg allergies that we need to be aware of and ask parents to keep this in mind as well. Unfortunately, we not accepting any children if we do not have their up-to-date medication and plans. We understand this can be annoying however, we must be compliant and have all medications up to date for your child to attend.  Any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.

TC Tucker

Last week for our TC Tucker, we had ravioli and bruschetta - the children loved it! Some children even suggested that should have it again for afternoon tea. With the TC Tucker program children are excited and looking forward to the new menu for our afternoon every week. We would like to encourage all families to submit to us any recipes they would like us to cook or make at TheirCare over the school holidays.

For all families – if you have any questions about TheirCare and would like to come and have a chat, please visit us in Emu Corner in the morning or afternoon. Alternatively, you can contact us on the details provided and we will be happy to help you.😊

It has been a wonderful term, and we’re excited for the holidays, and we wish everyone a fun and safe break! We hope to see you on the holiday program and see you next term!
