TheirCare News

Hi parents, guardians, staff and friends!

Welcome to Week 9 of Term 3.

We’re almost at the end of this term! Where have all the days gone? This week’s theme is Friendship Week. We were unable to use the gym due to the school concerts. During the mornings we played downball, spoons-card and a Friendship word search where we had a word search competition which was very exciting! In the afternoons the children were engaged in a variety of arts and crafts activities. They made friendship bracelets, friendship flowers and cards for their friends and besties. We also played with bubbles and did chalk drawing! It was great to see children having fun when they are engaged in arts and crafts activities. It is also a great way to develop and enhance their creativity and imaginative skills.

This week we have also played sports games, such as football, basketball, soccer, and even gaga ball - it is lovely to see how they show great teamwork and sportsmanship.

This week we will also be celebrating Are you Okay Day, in which we will be doing yoga and meditation with the kids and will be handing out yellow ribbons to celebrate.

Pupil of the Week

This week’s Pupil of the Week is Lucy Nguyen for being respectful towards everyone and for displaying positive attributes when attending TheirCare. Well done, Lucy! You should be so proud of yourself. 😊

Holiday Program Information

We would like to let all families know that the Spring Holiday Program is now open for bookings. Flyers are now available at the TheirCare Room / Emu Corner - feel free to come and visit us to get a copy.

This holiday program we have 3 massive excursions to the movies, Bounce, and even Luna Park!!

Important Holiday Excursion Information

On Thursday, 3 October, we will be attending Luna Park. Due to us needing to leave before 8:00am to get there, we need each child who is coming on the excursion to be at the service ready to go by no later than 7:30am. Unfortunately, we cannot accept or wait for any children who may be running late as we would then miss out on some of our time at Luna Park. We are letting all families know in advance so that there is no confusion, and we can all leave on time and have the best possible experience.

Food Allergies and Medicals

As most families are aware, TheirCare is a nut-free zone, and we would encourage all families to keep this in mind when packing their child’s lunchboxes. At Footscray West, we also have a high number of egg allergies that we need to be aware of and we ask parents to keep this in mind as well. Unfortunately, we also are strictly not accepting for children if we do not have their up-to-date medication and plans. We understand this can be annoying but unfortunately, we must be compliant and have all medications up to date for your child to attend.  Any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.

TC Tucker

On Thursday last week for our TC Tucker we had the cheesy quesadilla with guacamole dip. The children loved it. With the TC Tucker program children are excited and looking forward to the new menu for our afternoon every week. Next week we will be having ravioli and bruschetta on Monday for afternoon tea instead of having the pizza. We would like to encourage all families to submit us any recipes they would like us to try.

For all families – if you have any questions about TheirCare and would like to come and have a chat, please visit us in Emu Corner in either the morning or afternoon. Alternatively, you can contact us on the details provided and we will be happy to help you.😊
