The Foundation students have listened to and read different fairytales over the last few weeks to help them with their writing. Fairytales are a great way to introduce students to the structure of narrative writing. The Foundation students have been exploring the characters, settings, problems, and solutions of different fairytales.
The teacher and students collaborated together to innovate on the fairytales they read as a class. Innovating on these texts allowed the students to participate in the writing process by encouraging them to contribute ideas and change characters and parts of the story.
Innovating on text allows the teachers to foster creativity and helps students with the structure of narrative writing. It allows students to build on a known text's ideas, characters and setting. It also fosters a collaborative environment by allowing students to share ideas and give each other feedback during sessions.
The students then used their new knowledge of fairytales and narrative structures to help them build their own fairytales and stories. They did such a wonderful job with their stories. Their teachers were so proud of them.
Have a read of some of the fantastic stories that the students came up with.
This Wednesday 29th November, the Middles' Games Day will be happening. Thanks to the parents who have offered to support us. We look forward to a fun day .
Senior Games' Day was held on Thursday 23rd November. The kids were amazing. They all worked so well in their teams all day, and cooperated well throughout the day. All teams were worthy of winning, but only one can. Congratulations to the winning team of the seniors games day for 2023.
