On Tuesday 28th Nov, our School Rock Band went on TOUR! The Vermont Primary Rock Band joined forces with the Mitcham Primary and the Rangeview Primary Rock Bands and we played at all three schools in the same day. We started off the day at Mitcham Primary School where we performed between 9:30-10:30am, when then hoped on the tour bus and went over to Rangeview for our second gig at 12pm-1pm, and then we finished the day with a huge concert 2:15-3:15pm at Vermont Primary School where the crowd was the loudest (cheering and rowdiness was encouraged for a change). A big thank-you to the teachers from Rangeview and Mitcham that assisted Mr Fraser in organising this epic event. The students played really well (better at each gig), congratulations to all the members of the band:

Sheridan 6CP and Isabelle 6KM on vocals

Karen 6JS on Keys

Darsh 6AS and Brijen 6CP on guitar

(and Mr Fraser on Bass)

Talks are already underway for what we might do next year!

Yr6 Graduation Disco

Another big Music event went down this week - the Graduation Disco. We run a Graduation Disco each year to help raise money for the Yr6 Graduation at the Box Hill Town Hall. Students are encouraged to bring a gold coin donation, wear free dress and come and party in the stadium at lunchtime. The Yr6 students have a special V.I.P. area where they have a stage to bounce around on and they request songs and help make the setlist. There were games, dances-off, lolly prizes and this year we were treated to a special DJ set by a mystery Yr6 student with an awesome costume - look out Daft Punk! A big thanks to Mr Fraser and Mrs McConachy for helping to organise the event.

Digi Tech - THINK

The Year 1 Students have been focusing their learning in Digi Tech on the cyber safety acronym THINK to help them stay safe when using a digital device and going online. THINK is also the basis of our F-2 Acceptable Use Agreement. If you attended this week's assembly you would have heard our eSmart leaders talking about it with the help of some Year 1 students.

T= Tell someone if something is upsetting you online

H = Hide your password

I = Interesting websites can be fun, but is it ok for me?

N = No name calling

K = Keep your personal information safe

The students were asked to draw a picture to represent each letter in the acronym and then we selected one for each letter, scanned and used them to create a digital book in Purple Mash.

Here are some of their pictures:

If you would like to view your child's digital story, they can log in to Purple Mash from our GoVPS page. If you have any difficulty doing this, please feel free to email me - julie.hall2@education.vic.gov.au

Eastern Region Cricket Championships

On Friday the 10th of November our school cricket team competed in the Eastern Region finals.  The day was set out with two pools of 4 with each team playing everyone in their pool. We lost our first game to Mount View but then fought back against Montrose and Doncaster Gardens.  We finished second in our pool and qualified for the semifinals.

In the semifinal we played St Simon's and won with 4 balls to go which is extremely close.  In the end we lost the Region final to Mount View but it was an outstanding achievement.  The sportsmanship was amazing and overall, it was a great day out playing cricket with friends.
