Principal's Message

Dear Kismet Park families,
It has been another busy and exciting start to term 2 at Kismet Park, with plenty to celebrate across our school community.
Help Shape the Future of Kismet Park Primary School
As recently shared with families, Kismet Park Primary School has been allocated over $11 million in the 2026/27 Victorian State Budget to support future upgrades to our school, including a new STEAM and administration facility.
Meetings have now commenced, and we are gathering feedback from students, staff and our wider school community as part of the development of our Asset Management Plan, AMP1. This plan will help guide the future direction of our facilities and learning environments over the next 10 years.
We invite all parents and carers to complete our Future Facilities and Learning Spaces Survey to help us better understand your hopes and aspirations for the future of learning at Kismet Park PS.
The survey asks families to consider questions such as:
What should learning look like in 10 years’ time?
What kinds of spaces best support student learning and wellbeing?
How can our school continue to strengthen community connections and inclusivity?
Your feedback will play an important role in helping shape the vision we provide to the Victorian School Building Authority.
Please complete the survey by Thursday 28 May at 12:00pm.

Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership as we plan for the future of our school.
Open Classrooms – Maths Afternoon
Thank you to all families who joined us for our Open Classrooms Maths Afternoon on Wednesday 20th May. It was fantastic to see so many parents and carers engaging with students in their learning spaces and celebrating the wonderful maths learning happening across the school.
Events like this are a great opportunity for families to see learning in action and to better understand the strategies, language and problem-solving approaches students are using every day.
Mother’s Day Stall and Muffins with Mum Breakfast
A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Mother’s Day Stall and Muffins with Mum Breakfast. It was lovely to see our community come together to celebrate the special mums, grandmothers, carers and important people in our students’ lives.
Our Muffins with Mum Breakfast was a wonderful opportunity for families to spend time together at school and share a special morning with their children.
Thank you to our staff and volunteers who helped make these events possible. Your time, organisation and care are greatly appreciated.
Crazy Hair Day
Our recent Crazy Hair Day was a colourful and creative success! It was wonderful to see so many students and staff getting involved with bright colours, wild styles and plenty of imagination.
Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the day such a fun one for our school community.
Grade 3/4 Swimming Program
Our Grade 3/4 students have made a fantastic start to their swimming program, and we have been so proud of the way they have approached each session.
A big thank you to our families for the great effort in helping students arrive organised and prepared each day with everything they need. Programs like this take a real team effort, and your support makes a big difference.
It has also been wonderful to see the growing independence of our students as they manage their belongings, follow routines, and take responsibility for getting themselves ready. Alongside developing important water safety skills, confidence and swimming technique, students are also building valuable life skills through the program.
Facilities Update
Facilities and maintenance works continue across the school, with a number of significant projects scheduled for the Term 2 holidays. These include the completion of perimeter fencing works, further painting, plastering and carpeting in Building C and Prep classrooms, as well as our annual heater maintenance and carbon monoxide testing.
Planning is also progressing for several larger projects, including the retaining wall restoration, Accessibility Grant works and office upgrade. In the coming weeks, three new flag poles will be installed, and the decorative poles at the front of the school are being painted by Koorie artist John Patten.
We are also excited that our Schools for Nature grant will support the preparation and planting of a new Indigenous habitat garden next term. In addition, we have received preliminary notice of funding through the Sunbury Connected Communities Grant to support the creation of a Scooter Club, providing another opportunity for student engagement and physical activity.
COMING UP:
National Simultaneous Storytime - Wednesday 27th May
Next week, our students will take part in National Simultaneous Storytime, joining children across Australia in reading the same book at the same time. This is always a wonderful celebration of reading, storytelling and the joy of books.

Our Big Freeze event will be held on Wednesday 10th June. This is always an exciting day for our students and a great opportunity to come together in support of an important cause. More information will be shared with families shortly.

We are looking forward to our upcoming School Disco on Friday 19th June.
