Bus Changes in Term 2 | Route 447 to The Friends’ School

The Department of State Growth (DSG) has announced changes to bus timetables across Greater Hobart as part of the Greater Hobart Network Review.

From Sunday 3 May 2026, updated timetables will apply to Metro school bus services. Timetables will be updated to better reflect real travel times, with a small amount of additional time added to some journeys to improve reliability. This does not mean trips will take longer than they do today, rather it ensures timetables more accurately reflect current travel conditions, giving customers greater confidence and certainty around arrival times. In some cases, students will be required to transfer between buses where a direct service previously operated.

Change

From Term 2 2026 (Tuesday 5 May 2026), students travelling to The Friends’ School on routes 447 and 562 will need to change buses at the Hobart Interchange.

What this means for your journey

• Catch route 447 from stops in South Hobart

• The bus will arrive at St David’s Cathedral on Macquarie Street at 8:07am

• Get off the bus and walk 92 metres along Macquarie Street to Stop C1

• Catch route 562 that departs Stop C1 at 8:09am

If students miss this service, they can walk 72 metres to Stop A1 and catch the route 504 that departs at 8:13am.

View more info here.

PDF timetables will be available to preview online from 17 April 2026 at transport.tas.gov.au/bus-network-review.

View Term 2 school bus timetables here: https://www.metrotas.com.au/ghnr-school-timetables/

We encourage students and families to check their school bus times before Term 2 begins on Tuesday 5 May 2026, as some students may need to be at their bus stop earlier.

If you have any questions, or would like to speak to a Metro representative for a more detailed briefing, please reach out to them at: contact@metrotas.com.au
