Principal Report

Athletics Carnival
Our Athletics Carnival on Wednesday was a huge success. The highlight, apart from the weather, was the effort from every student. We saw our highest level of participation, with students having a go, supporting each other and showing a strong growth mindset across the day.
Thank you to the many parents who came along to support, and to Bashir for keeping the coffee flowing. A big thank you to our staff for their time, energy and support to make the day run so well. A special mention to Ms Sam Sullivan for her organisation and leadership of the event. We are very lucky.
Congratulations to O’Brien House for winning the House Points Championship for the second year in a row. A great achievement.
School Podcast
Our school podcast has been taken over by our Year 6 students. Across the year, all Year 6 students will have the chance to host an episode or two.
First up were Layla and Dean, who sat down with our Federal Member for Goldstein, Tim Wilson. They had a great conversation about their recent trip to Canberra, leadership, and what’s happening at St Mary’s and our local area.
Well done to everyone involved. You can listen to the podcast via the link below.

Mother's Day Stall & Breakfast
We are looking forward to celebrating our wonderful mums and special people at our upcoming Mother’s Day Breakfast on Friday 8 May from 7.30am to 8.45am.
Please save the date and join us for what promises to be a lovely morning together. There will be coffee and breakfast available, our Grade 6 students will be leading a range of activities, and families can enjoy a friendly game of mums and kids netball. We will also have a Photo Booth set up to capture some special memories from the morning.
Our school choir will be performing at 8.30am, which will be a special highlight of the morning.
We are incredibly grateful for the generous support of our local traders, who have helped make this event possible. Thanks to their contributions, we will also be hosting a Mother’s Day raffle, with over $500 worth of vouchers from local businesses up for grabs.
In the lead up, our Mother’s Day Stall will be held on Thursday 7 May during the school day. Students will have the opportunity to purchase gifts for their mum or special person, so you may wish to send them to school with some cash on the day.
More details will follow through posters and your class representatives.
We look forward to celebrating with you all.
ANZAC Day
Today we marked ANZAC Day as a school community. Our whole school service was held this morning in the church, led beautifully by our Year 3 students. They did a wonderful job helping us reflect and show respect.
Our Year 6 leaders and choir also represented St Mary’s at the service at the Hampton RSL, which was a great honour. We are very proud of the way they carried themselves.
ANZAC Day is a time to remember and thank the men and women who have served, and continue to serve, our country. It reminds us of the values of courage, sacrifice and mateship.
Thank you to everyone involved in making these services so meaningful.
Traffic Reminders
A reminder that the 2 minute parking zone at the front of the school is for drop off and pick up only. Parents and carers must remain in their vehicle at all times.
It is important that these rules are followed to ensure traffic flow and student movement are safe for everyone.
Drop off and pick up is something we do really well as a school. Please continue to follow these requirements and support a safe environment for all.
Welcome Staff
This term we welcome some new staff to St Mary’s. Miss Shona Fitzsimons joins us as our Year 5 teacher. Mrs Nicole Everett joins as our Production Manager and Performing Arts teacher on Wednesdays. We also welcome back Mrs Vanessa Gooden, who will be teaching Performing Arts on Thursdays.
We are very pleased to have them as part of our team. I know our students will enjoy working with them and learning from their experience. Please make them feel welcome as they settle into our school community.
Welcome Students
This term we welcome a new student into Year 1. Welcome to Zayn and his family.
Thanks
Steele
