CLEAN UP NARANGA DAY
This afternoon upper junior, senior and pathways classes participated in Naranga’s clean up day. It was one of the biggest clean up days we have ever had, and everyone got involved to find and help sort rubbish into landfill and recycling groups. Classes covered all areas of the school and looked hard near or under trees and buildings. It was a mighty effort from everyone.
Let us see how we went.
Items removed from the school grounds included:
62 food wrappers
15 plastic straws
7 plastic food containers
14 plastic lids
18 small plastic fragments
3 plastic cable ties
3 drink bottles
2 plastic soy sauce containers
1 metal can
5 foil pieces
8 cardboard cartons
21 food items
Smaller items found included: 1 band aid, 1 small rubber toy, 1 nail polish bottle, pen lids and Lego piece.
Junior Mason participated earlier in the day and found 12 items of rubbish. They responsibly took turns to hole the basket and use the big tongs to pick up the rubbish. They found plastic items: a lid, plastic bag and tub and chip wrappers.
Pathways Sustainability students have assisted me to tally up and record our results. I will email our results through to the Clean Up Australia organisers.
Well done everyone, that was a mighty effort that we can all be proud of. You were making a difference to keep Naranga School tidy.
