All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.

Last Sunday, our hall was filled with enthusiastic Prep and Year 6 buddy families celebrating the beginning of a new life for prep students as they embark upon their school journey.

Many families met our new priest, Fr Michael, for the first time. The students were already familiar with him as he had visited all the classes and made himself known to the students and teachers. His love of Minions and K-pop Demon Hunters has certainly endeared him to our students.

His homily centred around the love of Jesus and how a simple prayer, like The Sign of the Cross, is a powerful vehicle to bring Jesus into our lives when asking for help, forgiveness and love.

We reflected on how we can always depend on Jesus in times of trouble and joy. The sign of the cross strengthens us, gives us hope and reminds us of God’s everlasting love.

This week, the 2nd Week of Lent, the gospel focuses on the Transfiguration of Jesus, highlighting themes of divine glory, transformation, and preparation for the Passion. It reminds us that we, too, can be transformed and use this time of Lent to change our ways and turn back to God.

Year 4's will be commencing their journey towards First Eucharist at their Commitment Masses on 14th and 15th March. Please pray for these students as they take the first steps to becoming full members of our Catholic Community.
