VCE Theatre Studies Class Play: An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe

Congratulations to the St Pat’s and Loreto VCE Theatre Studies classes who worked together to stage “An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe” in the SPC Performing Arts Centre on Wednesday, 24 April. Over 100 people attended this, the very first play to be presented in the space, and were impressed with the efforts of the students involved who ranged from Years 10-12.

As part of Unit 3 Theatre Studies students must work across two production roles including direction, acting, set design, costume design, props design, lighting or sound design. The final outcome is the public performance and the students themselves were in full control of the play. I am so proud of what they were able to produce and the audience was very impressed.

Year 9-12 Theatre Studies Excursion to see Wicked the Musical

On Wednesday, 1 May, 30 St Pat’s Theatre Studies students went down to Melbourne’s Regent Theatre to see the awe-inspiring musical Wicked – The untold true story of the Witches of Oz. It was absolutely amazing and the impression it made on our young performers and designers cannot be overstated. Everything in the production was epic, the set design, costumes and world of the musical are outstanding, the illusions and special effects enchanting. I have no doubt students will remember this experience for the rest of their lives.
