Performing Arts Centre

On Monday, about 60 guests gathered at the College for the official opening of our long-awaited Performing Arts Centre (PAC). This state-of-the-art facility is a testament to our commitment to providing our students with the finest resources to nurture their artistic talents and it was wonderful to showcase it to members of the public, including many Old Collegians who worked on the project, earlier this week. The PAC will serve as a hub for creativity, expression, and cultural enrichment, fostering a vibrant atmosphere of collaboration and innovation. I wish to extend my thanks to Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison for officially opening the PAC, Bishop Paul Bird CSsR for his prayers and blessings, all staff members involved in organising the event and our talented students who performed beautifully on Monday. We look forward to the exciting opportunities the PAC presents to our existing school community and future generations.

Edmund Rice Day

Today we celebrated one of our favourite days on the St Patrick’s College calendar, Edmund Rice Day. It is a time when we come together as a whole school community to reflect on the values of compassion, solidarity, and service instilled by the Blessed Edmund Rice. The day began with a whole school Mass led by Fr Eladio, before students enjoyed a walkathon around Lake Wendouree, barbecue lunch, handball competition and the highly anticipated St Pat’s Has Talent. It was wonderful to see our students embrace the activities with enthusiasm and joy. Today’s celebrations kickstart our fundraising efforts that extend throughout the month of May and support our partners in justice: Edmund Rice Community Services, Edmund Rice Foundation Australia, Edmund Rice Camps and Caritas Australia. This year we are hoping to raise at least $40,000. Let us continue to embody the spirit of empathy and generosity that defines our College community and extend a helping hand to those in need.

School of Rock

Our first major performance in the PAC, School of Rock, is gaining momentum with tickets now on sale and rehearsals in full swing. St Patrick’s College enjoys an enviable reputation for its highly professional and entertaining productions, and I am confident that our inaugural performance will be a resounding success, showcasing the incredible talent and dedication of our students and staff. We look forward to welcoming local primary school pupils to the College to watch the production in coming weeks ahead of opening night on 16 May. If you haven’t yet booked your tickets for this historic performance, click on the button below. Chookas to all those involved in the production!

Catholic Education Week

Lastly, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Mrs Maria Richards on her 30 years of dedicated service to Catholic Education. Maria's unwavering commitment to our College, as well as her contributions to the broader community through her work with DOBCEL, exemplifies the values of excellence and service that we hold dear at SPC. We are incredibly fortunate to have her as a valued member of our team. As we continue to strive for excellence in all aspects of College life, let us remain steadfast in our commitment to nurturing the holistic development of our students and fostering a culture of compassion, excellence, and service.
